February Highlights
February was an exciting month at Yorkville Elementary! Students and staff had much to celebrate and enjoy including snow!
Yorkville Elementary celebrated the 100th Day of School. Hallways and classroom were filled with students who took on the role of 100 year old individuals. Many classrooms participated in fun activities and projects.
Students celebrated Valentine's Day by exchanging cards and candies. Students in first through third grade spent the afternoon roller skating at Traxside.
Third grade students have been very busy. The students are learning about the skeletal system and are memorizing the names of our 206 bones with a song. Students in third grade also received a special visit from Deputy Drewitz and K-9, Friday! Our very own Maggie Domanico, who is currently Miss Union Grove, celebrated the 100th Day of School with a third grade classroom.
Congratulations to the 4th and 5th grade students who represented Yorkville in the Math 24 Competition. The Yorkville team included the following students: Mia Wilks, Jack Braun, Lexi Johnsen, Evan Petrick, Guy Perone and Luke Barber.
Sixth grade students have also been practicing and applying their math skills. The students have focused on working with percents, calculating discount and tax, and shopping in the "6th Grade Math Mall!" In addition, students demonstrated their math knowledge by playing the Algebraic Expression Memory Match Game.

Eighth grade students were provided an opportunity to measure distance and time traveled by their Hot Wheel cars. Students then used the data to create position/time graphs while learning about forces and motion. A BIG thank you to Connor Johnsen for sharing his Hot Wheel cars and helping to make this activity possible.
Congratulations to Mrs. Kreuscher and the junior high choir for their participation in Choral Fest at Union Grove High School.
The PTO put together the first ever Little Miss and Her Mister Dance. Eighty girls got together in their best dresses and enjoyed some quality time with a loved one. It was a wonderful event and a great time was had by all.
