• Popsicles with the Principal from 5 pm to 6 pm. The campus (not individual classrooms) will be open to walk through with your student, you can meet Dr. Remland, and members of the PTA Board. You may enter at the Kindergarten gates off of Fern Ave.

**For the safety of all students and staff Fern is a CLOSED Campus**

Only Students and TUSD employees will be allowed on campus past the office.

TK and Kindergarten Parents:

The Fern PTA will be hosting “Tears and Cheers” by the Kindergarten Gate beginning at 8:30am. They will be there with Coffee and tissues for parents.

As well, TK and Kindergarten student name tags will be available at this table. Please arrive early to find your child’s TK or Kindergarten name tag. At 8:35 when the Kindergarten Gate opens, please then walk your student to the gate and introduce yourselves to their teacher. Their teacher will take it from there. Please remember to be at the gate promptly at 11:50 as our TK and Kindergarten students will be dismissed out of that gate August 24 & 25. Normal 1:50 Dismissal begins Monday, August 28th.

First and Second Grade Students

All first and second grade students can also enter campus through the kindergarten gates at 8:35am. These students should proceed to the playground where they can find their teachers and their areas to line up.

Please note that First grade students will exit through the kindergarten gate at Dismissal at 3:03pm.

Second grade students will exit through the front doors of the main building at 3:03 pm.

Third, Fourth and Fifth Grade Students

All third, fourth and fifth grade students may line up to enter campus at the front doors of the school. These front doors will open at 8:35am and students will be directed to the playground to line up with their teacher.

Third Grade students will exit the Southernmost gate off of the old kindergarten playground off Fern Avenue at 3:03 pm

Fourth Grade students will exit the southernmost gate close to the corner of Elm and El Dorado at 3:12pm.

Fifth Grade students will exit the gate closest to the cafeteria off ELM Avenue at 3:12pm.

Complete annual online registration on Powerschool by Friday, September 1st:

This will ensure that you receive principal emails, important district communications and complete required school paperwork. Powerschool is also where parents will access Progress Reports, testing data, Achievement Reports, etc.

Title 1 Funding- VERY IMPORTANT

A significant portion of Fern Elementary's funding comes from Federal Title 1 funding. This funding is ONLY received if parents complete the meal application found HERE. We NEED EVERYONE to complete this application whether your student is planning on eating in the cafeteria or not. Please complete this application ASAP.

Class assignments will be available online through Powerschool August 22nd. Please login to retrieve your student’s final classroom assignment. Final class rosters will not be accurate until Wednesday 8/23.

When class lists are prepared, many factors are considered before assigning your child to a particular class. If for any reason, a class change needs to be considered, a conference with Dr. Remland will be required. Absolutely NO class changes will take place before Friday, September 8th. The primary reason for this is that classes may change due to unexpected low or high enrollment the first five days of school.

Free Breakfast and Lunch will be served in the cafeteria on the first day of school. These will be provided FREE of charge during the 2023-2024 school year.
