Schlegel Safari Newsletter
November 2020
Dear Schlegel Families,
November is a month for us to be reminded of the importance of our family and friends. We are challenged with the current state of our nation's health as we prepare for the upcoming holiday season. There are choices all of us will be making about how to connect with our family and friends while practicing the guidelines set by the Health Department. Our hope is everyone comes up with creative ways to engage with others without jeopardizing the health of others. Consider using technology, taking more pictures, and altering your traditions in fun, memorable ways. The ultimate goal is for our county to stay in the Green Zone. We WILL get through this!
We appreciate the way you are collaborating with us! Students who are attending school in person continue to wear their masks, wash hands, and follow the expectations their teachers have set. There have been situations where we have needed to provide a school mask to students due to the mask from home not fitting appropriately. The mask must cover your child's nose and mouth. If they have to keep adjusting the mask, this is an indication of improper fit. When this happens, a note will come home with your child so you are aware of the switch and information about the way a mask should fit. There are so many masks available along with many different face shapes! Thanks for helping us with this. Just call if you have any questions.
On Monday, November 16, the plan is for us to start testing 20% of students and staff each week. Please read the communications from Superintendent Gumina as there will be updated information sent to all families and staff. Mrs. Hesla and I (Dr. Leggett) will conducting the nose swab. We are having other staff members trained to assist if/when needed. Our goal is to make this as pleasant and quick as possible allowing your child to stay focused on learning while they are at school. If you have any questions, please call or email us. This is new territory for all of us. Please know we are thinking about the best way to complete this process with your child(ren) in mind.
We wish you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!
