Douglass Weekly Updates 10/12-10/16
Douglass Elementary KCKPS 2020-2021
Thank you all for participating in Family Advocacy yesterday and today! We are so proud of our students and the strives they have been making. If you were not able to attend a parent-teacher conference please contact the teacher to make arrangements. While students have done a great job getting on Zoom for their live learning sessions, we have many that are not completing their assignments. If you are unsure how to find out what assignments your child is missing, please reach out to their teacher.
In-person technology assistance is available Monday-Friday from 9:00am-4:00pm, on the Douglass playground. Please wear a mask and bring your device. We can assist with logging in, navigating learning platforms and minor troubleshooting.
Major technical issues and device repairs will still need to be done at North Central Office. Tents are set up Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm at 2220 N. 59th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66104. Please call upon arrival, 913-627-3320.
If you have not already, please take the time to complete the following:
The Family Contract form must also be on file for all students who attend Douglass Elementary. The purpose of this document is to ensure that all families are aware of the responsibilities of the school, family and student.
The KCKPS Board of Education is considering the next steps for your student's learning, and wants to hear from you in order to help make decisions. Learning opportunities being considered include continuation of remote learning, and various hybrid models (which includes both in-person and online classes). Please take time to provide this information ASAP, as the survey will close Monday, October 12 at 8am. Your feedback is important!
Parent Assurances document
For KCKPS to receive full funding for each student during remote learning, the Kansas Department of Education (KSDE) requires that all parents and/or legal guardians complete the Parent Assurances document. You only need to submit one form per household/family. The form includes the names, grades and schools of each child within the family. To complete the necessary form, please use this link: https://parents.kckps.org/
For more information about the Parent Assurances document can be found here https://kckps.org/parent-assurances/ or watch one of the videos on YouTube:
You can now register for this program online instead of having to call!
We also wanted to remind you, that both Mrs. Marsh (our school social worker) and Mrs. Pouppirt (our school counselor) are still available to you during this time. If you have concerns about your child, or think they would benefit by speaking with us individually, please reach out. We can meet with them on an as-needed basis, or schedule recurring meetings. Please reach out to Mrs. Marsh directly at email@example.com or via text at 913-229-6170 to set something up. Or ask your child's teacher to connect you.
