Mustang Manager
Each student K-5 has a Mustang Manager folder with a daily communication card in the back where teachers can communicate with parents daily. We ask that you review it each day, and sign at the end of each week. Grade levels have labeled other pockets in the folder as they see fit. Schoolwide info will continue to be sent home on Tuesdays, and will be in this folder as well. Any notes that you need to send to the teacher, transportation notes, etc. should also be sent back in these folders.
This week, you will receive your student's 1st 9 Weeks Progress Report, our Compulsory Attendance Notice and an additional TEA COVID Notice with updated information from TEA.
Medication Update From Nurse Backhus
Update On Medicine
Any medications used to treat symptoms consistent with COVID-19 such as cough, shortness of breath, headache, sore throat and body aches will not be administered without a current healthcare provider's note.
This would include:
- metered dose inhalers,
- cough medicine
- cold medicine
- Acetaminophen
- Ibuprofen
- At this time, nebulized medications will not be administered during the school day (this is a change from last year.)
Medicine Drop Off
Should you need to drop off other necessary medication, please bring up to the school between the hours of 8:00 and 3:00. We ask that you wear a mask and sign in, in the front office and we'll direct you from there. All medication must be in the original container and cannot be expired. Prescription medication must contain:
- student name
- name of medicine
- directions
- expiration date
All of the above must be visible on the label. A physician's signature must be obtained on a Medication Authorization form before a nurse can give any controlled substance. The form is attached below.

PTO Update
MRE is lucky to have such an incredible PTO that supports the needs of our school, staff and students in every way possible! As we've just now welcomed students back face to face and our focus has been getting that rolling, our first PTO meeting for the year will be next month. At this time, the meetings be held via Zoom, but we are hoping for some face to face meetings down the road. We'll have updates from officers and committees on August/September happenings and discuss budget, proposed purchases and PTO business, as well as what is ahead for PTO this year. It may look different, but we are excited to grow this organization and plan for our staff and students.
Due to resignation, we have a vacancy on our PTO board. If you are interested in supporting PTO as an officer, please email mrepto@yahoo.com for more information. A nomination link will be sent out next week, and if there are multiple nominations, elections will take place at our October meeting.
Our PTO membership drive is in full swing, and we'd love for each family to purchase a $5 membership. Membership is not required to participate in meetings or help out, but is necessary to vote on items such as purchases, PTO functions and officer elections, in addition to other various items. Please click HERE to purchase your membership. (one membership per family)
We are looking forward to a great year!
TOMORROW! SAY CHEESE!!!
Car Rider Line
We have made a few adjustments, based on the number of students being dropped off and picked up in the car rider line this year. Please note the following changes......
AM Drop Off Changes
- Doors will open at 7:45 a.m. (we are bumping this up by 5 minutes due to the high volume of traffic in the mornings) starting Tuesday, September 15.
- The majority of staff on duty will not arrive until 7:50, so please have your students open their own door if a staff member is not there to do so
PM Pick Up Changes
- We are calling FOUR flights of students (4 sets of cars 1-6) to line up and wait before we start loading students. This allows us a little bit of room to get ahead. Please be patient with us as you may be sitting there and your student waiting. We appreciate your understanding :)
- Students still remaining in the hallway once all cars have been called will wait in the front office, where a parent needs to come in and sign them out with a photo ID.
Student Tardy Policy
As we know the first couple of weeks are about establishing routines, we acknowledge arrival and dismissal may take a little longer. We will need some more time to get in a groove in the mornings, but will soon begin counting students who enter the building after 8:15 tardy. When weather, bus delays or unexpected traffic hold ups affect the line, we do not count students tardy.
We have made the adjustment to open the line earlier each day, and thank you for your help in making sure your student can exit quickly with their things in hand, as to not hold up the line behind you!
We will begin counting tardies the week of September 21.
