End of Year Conferences
This year our End of Year conferences will work a little differently than in the past. This is due to the late STAAR testing dates in the upper grades and our campus being closed those days, late End of Year testing dates in K-2, as well as an earlier last day of school date. Your child's teacher will be sending out an email to each of you asking you to either waive the conference or to sign up via Signup Genius to meet with them.

ABC COUNTDOWN
We are nearing the final days of school! Can you believe how quickly this year has passed!? We will be celebrating the last 26 days of school by having an ABC COUNTDOWN TO SUMMER!
Below is a copy of the ABC schedule in which we encourage you and your child to countdown and mark off each day in anticipation of the final day in school! Many days are themed with activities which will not involve much effort from home. However, a few activities will involve your support. On select days, students will be asked to bring in an item to celebrate. We appreciate your support in making each of these days special.
Not Returning to Barksdale Next Year
In order to plan for the closing of this school year and for the start of the 2019-2020 school year, we would appreciate information from families who plan to move out of the Barksdale community.
If you have moved out of the boundary for Barksdale during the current school year or know for certain that you will be moving before the start of school, please complete the information below and return the form to the office by May 10, 2019. Also, it is the practice that our school district does not allow parents to hand carry student records. Records will be mailed after a request is received from the new school.

What We Are Learning
Math
Next week we will begin a new unit on collecting data, analyzing, and graphing. Students will be using data they collect from the classroom to create their own graphs. They will also be learning how to interpret and draw conclusions from their data.
Language Arts & Social Studies
In Social Studies we've been learning about how community helpers provide us with goods and services to meet our needs and wants.
Science
Next week in science we are starting our final unit! Students will be learning all about the parts of a plant, the plant life cycle, and how pollination occurs. Students will also have the opportunity to plant their own seed and record daily observations about the growth and change they see.
