Schooling & Education

-Phillips Academy in Andover, Mass. in 1961.

-Yale in 1964 and graduated in 1968.

-After Yale he enlisted into the Texas Air National Guard and after he was honorably discharged in 1974 he went back to school.

-Enrolled Harvard Business School where he got his Master of Business Administration degree in 1975.

Presidents History

He worked in the oil and gas business but sold it in 1986. He helped his dad with his campaign and after he won, Bush and a group of investors bought the Texas Rangers in 1989. He sold his share in 1998. Bush became the governor of Texas in 1995 and was reelected in 1998 by a landslide. As Governor Bush cut taxes and increased education funds. He promoted education reforms and lowered the age the kids can be tried as adults. He began his campaign for the Presidency in 1999 and was a favorite to win for Republicans. There was a lot of controversies over who had won the election. On election day it was unclear who had won. Bush had 246 votes and Gore had 255 and 270 were needed to win. The electoral votes of Florida would decide who won and there were lots of recounts, but in the end Bush won the election.
