iReady Mathematics and Reading Assessment
January 2022
Dear Parent/Guardian:
Indian Prairie School District 204 is implementing a new Mathematics and Reading assessment called i-Ready to replace the aimsweb benchmark assessment. i-Ready is an online assessment that will help us determine your child’s strengths and areas for growth as well as monitor their progress throughout the school year. i-Ready allows us to meet your child where they are and provides us with data to inform instruction.
Students in kindergarten through eighth grade will complete the i-Ready assessment this winter and again in the spring. i-Ready is a computer-adaptive test that matches the difficulty of test questions to the proficiency level of each student. As students answer questions correctly, they will get more difficult questions. As students answer questions incorrectly, they will get easier questions. The assessment adapts to find the precise proficiency level of each student in the quickest, most efficient way possible. The purpose of this is not to give your child a score or grade but to determine how to best support their learning. Many students will see material teachers haven’t taught. This is an intentional part of the design of the adaptive assessment. Students may see above-grade level material and below-grade level material. The assessment is designed for students to get about 50% of the questions correct and 50% incorrect to help identify their proficiency on a range of skills in reading and math.
Individual student scores will be available through Parentvue by March 11. The assessment results are used by teachers and administrators to assist with instructional planning and differentiation at the grade, classroom, and student level.
Should you have any questions regarding i-Ready, please contact the school principal.
Regards,
Charles Sprandel

Mental Health Resources
ReferralGPS is a web-based service focused on assisting our students, staff, and community in finding local mental-health and substance use related treatment. The service compliments the district's existing systems of support as a tool for student service teams and families to connect with treatment. Along with a searchable database of treatment options, ReferralGPS provides Care Navigation to assist families in triage, appointment setting, and follow-up care. ReferralGPS takes into account all types of private and public insurance including PPO, HMO, Medicaid, Medicare, and families who are uninsured or underinsured. The platform also filters by age, gender, zip code, and special requests. ReferralGPS is available for use by district students, staff, and families at no cost. All information entered on the ReferralGPS tool is completely confidential and securely stored.
