Message from the School Board President

Greetings All,

Spring has sprung and I hope everyone had a joyful Easter holiday. We look
forward to wonderful spring break this week and some much needed rest and
relaxation.

It is with bittersweet news however that I write to inform everyone the
board has received a letter of intent to retire effective June 30th, 2021
from Wendy Gudalewicz which we have accepted. This has been a trying time
the past year with the almost insurmountable challenges of remote learning
and Covid-19 pandemic but Orchard staff, teachers, and families found a way
to make it happen. We will have other upcoming changes as we look toward
reopening and a new school year. I am confident we will be able to take
these new challenges head-on and continue to provide our kids the safety,
protection, and nurturing environment we have come to expect.

Wendy has served our district proudly and under her leadership and care our
students have thrived. Her mark will forever be here at Orchard and we are
grateful for her stewardship and service. Our Zen Den and Family Resource
centers will always remind us of her commitment to making this school a safe
haven for our Orchard children. We wish her all the best in her next
endeavors.

The board will work in partnership with Mary Ann Dewan, Superintendent of
Schools, Santa Clara County Office of Education, and her team to conduct a
search for our next superintendent. It is with their help we found Wendy
three years ago and they have once again pledged support.

Our efforts will begin immediately and we hope to be through a selection
process for qualified candidates within the next few weeks. I hope to reach
out again soon with good news on our Superintendent Search.

In the meantime, be well and if you would like to contact me please feel
free.

Best regards,

Stephanie Hill
