A Message from the Principal
Dear Sheridan Families,
We had a very full week at Sheridan with Tuesday’s snow providing an extra dusting of excitement in the air! Thank you for sending your children prepared for the weather – they had a blast outside at recess. With boots now part of the daily mix, please also make sure your children have gym shoes for wellness class. Many families opt to keep a pair at school for the winter months, which simplifies packing up backpacks as well. Lastly, as the students begin their days inside, feel free to send all their gear WITH them in a separate bag. This also helps keep their cubbies organized!
This Friday is the end of Trimester 1. Report cards will be EMAILED directly to parents/guardians next Tuesday, November 22 (no printed copies for grades 1-4). Kindergarten students will have paper copies of their narratives in backpacks. We love having this fall snapshot to show students how much they grow throughout the year. “Not yet” is just that… an opportunity to keep heading in the right direction with feedback along the way. Of course, if you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher.
Future Shark Survey:
As we continue to look ahead at enrollment at Sheridan, please take a brief moment to fill out this survey if you have younger children at home.
Up next:
MAP testing the weeks of November 28 and December 5. Classroom teachers will email exact schedules or consult the Sheridan calendar.
Winter Sing:
Finally, a little fun calendar planning! Start charging your phones and cameras… and add these Winter Sing performances to your calendars. We have a fresh take on these popular events to accommodate our wide range of students, so take note:
Festive dress for all! Doors will open 10 minutes before the performance. We look forward to sharing these cheerful performances with you! Important details:
Please stay for the whole performance.
We are asking for advanced notice if you plan to take your child home after the performance, including siblings.
Please provide green notes when you send your child to school. Thank you!
Wishing all of our Sheridan Sharks a very happy Thanksgiving. We are grateful for all of you!
Sincerely,
Susan
District Update
Deerpath Road Closure - This Weekend!
This is a friendly reminder that Deerpath Road will be completely closed between Route 41 and Ahwahnee Lane from Friday, Nov. 18 at 7 pm through Monday, Nov. 21 at 5 am for ComEd's new bridge deck to be lifted into place.
Deerpath Road will remain open to local traffic from Green Bay Road to Ahwahnee Lane. Drivers are encouraged to use Green Bay Road south to Westleigh Road to access both Route 41 and Waukegan Road. The Route 41 exit and entrance ramps will remain open, but Deerpath will only be accessible west of the closure. After this closure, there will be periodic lane shifts along Deerpath Road while ComEd works to complete the project by the end of the year.
Did You Miss It?
