Pasture Raised Bison
Pasture Raised Alpaca
Pasture Raised Lamb
Group Buy: Carrell Farms
Carrell Farms is a family owned, grass-based livestock operation featuring 100% grassfed, chemical-free, USDA processed Asian water buffalo. Seasonally they offer 100% grassfed lamb and other species. They are the first alpaca farm in the Southeastern US and offer alpaca shearing and farm consulting services.
New to Alpaca meat? Carrell Farms Grassfed Alpaca is a real treat!
Alpaca is a very mild, sweet meat, similar to pork but without the pig, chop cooks up a very similar in color and texture to pork.
Our alpacas are 100% grassfed and antibiotic free. Grass Fed a species appropriate diet, No Soy, No GMOs. Raised with love and respect, not hormones and antibiotics.
Here is another gentle reminder that ''It is okay to be different''.
Why water buffalo? Well why not? Water Buffalo tastes great! It has an honest red meat flavor with no gaminess. There is no need to marinade or over season our water buffalo as the flavor is grown right in. No need to drain - any excess fat is highly nutritious! Water Buffalo ground is excellent for burgers, chili, meat loaf, sloppy joes, spaghetti sauce, etc.! Be sure to try our famous Buffalo Con Queso recipe ( recipe on Suwanee's website). Children and adults alike really love it!
Omega 3 fats have a much lower melting point than Omega 6 fats. Expect grass fed meats to cook in 1/3 less time than contemporary grainfed meat.
Vendor of the Day - A&A Alta Cucina - Adriana Coppola
She is very excited to meet you, answer questions, and let you sample her pestos, balsamic vinegars, sauces, and more! Limited items for purchase will also be available.

New Items on the Market
Cedar Rock Free Range Eggs - Since we've been selling out of eggs every week I've decided there's enough demand to temporarily add a 3rd egg vendor. In addition to his amazing raw Jersey cow milk, Sam will also provide the co-op with fresh pasture raised eggs. The reason why we have a shortage is because those lovely hens don't lay as much in the Winter months (too cold, short days, and I can't blame them :-) )
Sourwood Honey - Quart - I hope you all enjoyed meeting and talking with Bob last Tuesday when he was our Vendor of the Day. I know he was very happy to meet all of you!! Starting this week he will have Sourwood honey in quart size. This particular flavor of honey is a choice item that some folk describe as the Cadillac of tastes. It is unique and much sought after. Because it is harvested only once a season, it is pricier than some of the other available varieties.
Other Market News
New Name Coming Soon!
I have some exciting news to share with you! We are soon changing our name to Buford Locally Grown! This change will officially happen as soon as all the paperwork is done. I've been wanting to do this for a while. It just makes sense since we are in Buford not Suwanee. I think this name change will help folks in Buford and surrounding communities locate us easier as well! For right now, we will still be Suwanee Whole Life Co-op and nothing will change but the name.
B&G Farm - COMING SOON! Chevon (Pastured Goat Meat)
Farm raised on B&G's farm in Madison - these goats run with with our grass fed cattle and have a flavorful meat . They also provide our farm natural weed control since they eat the weeds out of the pastures. This helps us stay Certified Naturally Grown for weed control. Packaged at a USDA Inspected facility and vacuum packaged to preserve freshness. We will list them as soon as they are available!
Back In Time - Free Farm Tour RSVP
Mark your calendars! Free farm tour at Back In Time Farm, Sunday, May 7th from 2 pm to 4 pm. If you know you can make it please add Farm Tour RSVP and number attending as quantity to your order before you check out. We just want to get a feel about how many will be attending. The farm address is 40 Arnold Rd SE, Statham GA 30666 (about 50 minutes from Suwanee). There will be a hay ride and plenty of animals to see and pet. We look forward to seeing your family there! More details to come as we get closer to tour date. If you have questions please contact us. Our info is in the "Our Growers" section of the market website.
(Repeat)
Fry Farm - Many of you were asking about Fry Farm at last week's market. Here's a note from Vicky on what's going on at the farm right now: "We are doing great. We have been working hard to get things ready for Spring. We have spinach, celery, green onions, kale and carrots growing and should be ready in about 3 or 4 weeks depending on the weather. Everything is growing very slow this time of year.
I'm starting transplants in the greenhouse. The weather this past week makes me want rush outside and start planting but it is still too early for most things. I just planted dill, parsley, cilantro, onions, fava beans and cress. It's always a gamble planting this early.
Volunteers Needed
Please consider volunteering during market pick up. I can’t run the co-op without your help! The schedule IS UPDATED through the end of 2017
THANK YOU Diana, Cindy, Chuck, and Xavier for helping out on Tuesday!
Thank you in advance for your support!
