Greetings from the Principal
Dear Riverview families,
Welcome to February! This month holds many activities and events for students and families, so please keep your eyes peeled for PTA events (Book Fair, Movies With Mom for Riverview boys, and BINGO Night, just to name a few) and important school dates, such as Parent-Teacher Conferences, Valentine's Day activities, and music programs. The PTA is always interested helping get parents involved or provide volunteer opportunities, so thank you in advance for considering donating your time and talents to support the school. I am especially looking forward to this week's All Pro Dads breakfast and hearing the message from Coach Joel Applebee, MVHS's high school football coach who won the 2015 State Championship and was named the 2015 High School Coach of the Year! The All Pro Dads breakfast is this Wednesday, February 3, at 7:30 am in the West Activity Area. All students and father figures are invited to attend!
We are nearing February 18, Riverview’s date for Kindergarten Round Up. The purpose of the Kindergarten information night is to give parents a chance to receive information and/or enroll their child for the 2016-17 school year. It is important to attend even if you have had students already go through kindergarten at Riverview. This evening also begin our preliminary count of the number of students who will be attending our school in the fall to help us determine if we have the right amount of staff available for the number of students. If you know of any families in the community who have a child that will turn 5 on or before August 31st, please pass this information on to them so that they may attend.
Flu season is here. Thank you in advance for your attention to regular hand washing/hygiene, and for keeping your students home if they are ill.
Finally, THANK YOU to all students and families who participated in the building fundraiser project! On behalf of Riverview educators, your support means so much to us, and this fundraiser will help to provide valuable resources used by students and teachers to support learning and achievement.
Make it a great week!
Beth Mildren
