Spring break is almost here!
While our jobs are certainly tiring, it's helpful to remember that all of the energy we invest, while tiring for us, does lead to some awesome results with our students! Here's a little motivation to help you make it to break or through the final weeks of the year.
Activity Corner - Using Individual Whiteboards
Using Whiteboards to Promote Student Designed Questioning
- By rows/groups of students, assign each a question word (who, what, when, where, why) and have the students write it on the top of their whiteboards. Assigning question words can be random or differentiated based on student skill level with the language.
- Students then draw a picture on their whiteboards. This can be open-ended or themed...as best fits your lesson/unit.
- Students choose a partner and asks their partner at least two to three questions in the target language about their picture, using the question word written on their board.
- Have students switch partners and ask more questions.
Here are some other ideas for using individual whiteboards in your lessons. Enjoy!

Teacher Feature
Many thanks to Dustin Noll, Laura Richards and Jenny Getty for supporting student leadership of the German Club!
*If you would like to share a great strategy/activity/idea, just let me know. I’d love to feature the awesome things you do!
German Club
The students pictured shared that they really enjoy German club because they get to learn new things (Lily Malone), talk to students in other levels in an informal atmosphere (Anna Rhody), practice leadership skills (Kalyn Clites), and teach other people about her culture (Jette Vogelsang).
