Bobcat Bulletin
August 5, 2016
Hello FSS,
We had a few changes over the summer. It is easiest for me to list them out.
As you heard...Lindsay will be moving up, up and away. She will be the new Principal of Clay Elementary in SD. She will be neighbors with Allen. Proud of you, Lindsay! FSS is on to AP number 5 in 6 years!
Arica Rainey will be our part time AP. Some of you will remember her. She taught here some years ago. She will split here time with WHF. Welcome back, Arica!
Mayra Acosta (SDC MM) and Krisell Aragon (LC K-3) have joined our team. Welcome! Mayra might also be familiar. She covered a maternity leave for Nikki Stevens a few years ago. She was a learning center teacher last year at WHF and will teach our Mild/Moderate SDC class this coming year in room 52.
Krisell comes to us from Vista where she taught in a learning center model. She will take Karen Frye's position. Her room will now be room 32. All the Learning Centers are together to best cover students and share assistants.
Awara Mizra (formerly an assistant in our SDC MS program) has accepted our position of upper grade intervention and will be working with a new Reading Technician, still to be decided.
We downsized our Noon Duty supervisor schedule. We have our faithful 8 crossing guards and two noon duties. We are down from our past 14 supervisors. It will be a slim year with supervision, so all hands on deck. Teachers will be assigned after-school duty this year to cover our supervisor loss. Check the FSS Staff Folder under start up for the schedule.
Room changes:
The workroom is now in room 45.
The Counseling/Psychologist room is now Room 34.
ASES/Palomar Counseling/4-6 grade Art (maybe band) is now Room 33.
The lounge is now our dual Lounge/Professional Development room.
STEM Innovation lab is Room 1.
Our Feeding America Food Pantry Program will begin Sept 8 after school. Imagine our parents grocery shopping in our lunch pavilion twice a month after-school.
We will be providing a healthy snack four days a week during morning recess. We will need help distributing the snack. Did someone say "student leaders?" The cafeteria will prepare the snack and then they will be handed out by student leaders at the snack tables.
We have been approved to host a Girls On The Run club. Fully funded by the program. Mayra Acosta will lead our pack. We need 3 willing assistant coaches to run with the 20 girls 2 days a week after school. See me ASAP if you are interested. Available for classified and certificated staff.
Our theme this year is "Unleashing the POTENTIAL!" Go Bobcats!
Here's to a successful year!
