The results are now available for the 2022-23 EIPS Annual Feedback Surveys: For Parents and Caregivers and For Students conducted in March. Thank you to all families and students who took the time to share their feedback with the Division. The surveys included a series of questions related to the three priorities outlined in the EIPS Four-Year Education Plan: 2022-26 (Year 1).

· Priority 1: Promote growth and success for all students

· Priority 2: Enhance high-quality learning and working environments

· Priority 3: Enhance public education through effective engagement

The overall Division results represent 2,709 responses from parents and caregivers and 1,980 responses from grades 9 and 12 students from across the Division. The survey results for Next Step have helped us identify the following areas of strength and opportunities for growth.

Next Step areas of strength:

• There is open and honest communication within my child's school. (82.35% strongly agree, 11.76% agree)
• My child's individual needs are met. (74.29% strongly agree, 22.86% agree)
• School staff care about my child. (86.96% strongly agree, 8.70% agree)
• How satisfied are you with the quality of education your child's receiving at school? (79.41% strongly satisfied, 16.18 % satisfied)
• How satisfied are you with the leadership at your child's school? (85.51% strongly satisfied, 8.70% satisfied)
• In your opinion, has the quality of education your child's experienced improved, stayed the same or declined in the past three years? (75.36% improved, 8.70% stayed the same)
• How satisfied are you with opportunities provided to be involved in your child's education? (66.18% strongly satisfied, 29.41% satisfied)
• The school keeps me informed about my child's progress and achievement. (79.41% strongly agree, 19.12% agree)

The feedback gathered in the survey will help our school and the Division measure its progress toward meeting the priorities and goals outlined in the EIPS Four-Year Education Plan and develop strategies to better serve students and the wider community moving forward.

Next Step is offering Foundations in Industry Workplace Safety during July 4-14. In addition to earning five 30-level high school credits, students will also obtain credentials in specific areas of workplace safety in partnership with industry-safety experts. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be credentialed in:

• Construction Safety Training(CSTS2020)
• Confined Space
• Detection and Control of Flammable Substances
• Fall Protection Awareness
• Ground Disturbance
• H2S Alive
• Transportation of Dangerous Goods
• WHMIS 2015

Planning to use Student Transportation in the 2023-24 school year? If so, make sure your child is registered so Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) can plan routes and send your child a bus pass before the first day of school. All students who indicated needing transportation services through the returning student or new student registration processes are now registered. Those families have also received tentative route schedules and invoices—fees are due June 30, 2023.

For those students who didn’t indicate needing transportation services during the registration process and want to now register, simply fill out this registration form. For more information about EIPS Student Transportation, visit www.eips.ca/transportation.

NOTE: Families can pay fees online using the PowerSchool Parent Portal. To pay in-person, visit the EIPS Student Transportation building during its office hours—Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on school days and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on non-school days.

Is your child graduating from or leaving EIPS at the end of the school year? If so, they must ensure any information they want to retain from their school cloud accounts is downloaded onto a personal device before leaving.

· Google account – Students must download any wanted content before August 1—download files either individually or in bulk using Google Takeout.

· Microsoft account – Students must download any wanted content from their OneDrive account before August 1.

Are you a graduating Grade 12 student looking for help to finance your post-secondary education in agriculture, food science or culinary arts? If so, apply for one of 32 scholarships, each valued at $3,000, offered by Bayer Crop Science. The deadline is June 8.

The Bayer Crop Science Opportunity Scholarship program is available to graduating Grade 12 students entering their first year of post-secondary education in agriculture, food science or a culinary program at a Canadian university or college of their choice in the fall of 2023. Scholarships will be awarded to students based on demonstrated academic achievement, leadership in their community and their vision for how they’ll contribute to Canadian agriculture in the future. scholarship details

School fees for the 2022-23 school year are posted on the PowerSchool Parent Portal. All fees are due within 30 days of being posted. Throughout the year, fees are often added to cover the costs for various activities, such as field trips, extracurricular activities, and late, damaged or lost textbooks. To access your fee information, simply log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal and go to “Student Fees.” There you can view fees and pay them online using a credit card. Make sure to monitor your child’s account on an ongoing basis.

NOTE: Pursuant to Board Policy 23: School Fees and Administrative Procedure 505: School and Administrative Fees, EIPS will forward any unpaid 2022-23 fee amounts to a collection agency. To prevent this from happening, remember to pay your fees before Aug. 31, 2023.
