A Note From the Principal
Dear Parents,
Each year we gather feedback from our River Ridge community through a variety of forms (coffee talks, surveys, in-person events, parent meetings, etc). With in-person contact being limited this year, it is more important than ever to receive information via the campus climate survey. I promise your time will not be wasted, as I spend hours analyzing responses to ensure I hear your voice and work to make improvements. Your kiddos are my kiddos too! This confidential survey asks questions that are designed to get opinions on academic and student support, safety and behavior, school leadership, family involvement, and more. It will close on February 21st Thank you in advance for your time.
With Joy,
Shelley Roberts

Black History Month
We are thrilled to announce the launch of our freshINCedu program, an elementary entrepreneurship program from Uncharted Learning, NFP. This year our 5th grade QUEST elementary students will apply design thinking and the Lean startup method to build and offer a product in the marketplace. Next year we plan to offer this experience to all 5th grade students. This program starts the pathway for LISD Entrepreneurship experiences through middle and high school.
We are looking for volunteers with real-life experience to help our young teams improve their problem/solution interviewing skill, develop their product ideas, figure out their product development, create marketing materials, and offer their products to the marketplace..
Volunteer Opportunities (virtual only) include :
Business Expert - lend subject matter expertise to teach a specific lesson of the curriculum and/or facilitate a Q&A session around a particular topic (i.e. entrepreneurship, designing a business model, pitch, product, prototype, marketing, customer feedback, sales, etc.)
(1 time commitment)
Class Mentor- meet/communicate regularly with student teams to offer strategic guidance and wisdom during the entrepreneurship process. (Varies by campus need and mentor availability)
Pitch Day Panel - commitment to serve on a “Shark Tank” judging panel to provide feedback to all student business teams to prepare prototypes for the marketplace. (1time commitment)
If you would like to volunteer, please complete the freshINCedu Volunteer Form.
We would like to thank LEEF for bringing the freshINCedu experience to our students by sponsoring the annual program fee and supporting prototype development. If you are interested in donating, please complete the Donation Interest Form. Your donations will go directly to the freshINCedu program and support students in their entrepreneurial experience.Vandegrift HS Viper Campus Alliance - KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK RRE!
In an effort to promote, recognize, and celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and nationally honored MLK Day of Service, ALL VHS feeder pattern schools are being challenged to complete acts of service/kindness. Click HERE to access the submission link. The link will be active from 8:00 am, January 18th until 4:00pm on February 15th.
The challenge will kick off on January 18th, MLK day, through February 15th, President's day. The school with the highest percentage of service/kindness acts will have their school colors proudly worn by all other schools in the feeder pattern. Acts of service/kindness can come in many forms. Here are some examples:
- Write a note of gratitude to a teacher, neighbor or friend
- Create positive messages with sidewalk chalk in your neighborhood
- Ask an elderly neighbor if you can rake their leaves
- Gather and donate items to a food bank or shelter
There is no act of service/kindness that is too small! To maximize our impact in the community, multiple submissions are encouraged and allowed!
