HOW ARE YOU?
We deeply care about your family in these challenging times and would like to provide an ongoing opportunity for you to share needs. Please complete this Madison Student and Family Check-in Form to let us know about physical, academic, mental or emotional needs so we can best support you!
We would also be happy to set up a time to talk to better understand the needs of your family. Our office hours are when we are available to respond to questions via email and for phone or video appointments.
BACK SNACKS?
Madison Elementary provides Harvesters "Back Snacks" throughout the typical school year for families to take home over weekends. Back Snacks include foods and snacks such as canned goods, cereal, granola bar, and juice. If you would like to receive a supply of Back Snacks please email Mrs. Hodson at hodsonj@usd231.com. This is not meant to replace the meals that the school district is providing on Mondays and Wednesdays but rather to provide a short term supplement. We will deliver these to your home on a first come first serve basis.
With all the changes and disruption in our world and personal lives, this is a time when we all need to focus on awareness of our emotions and how to cope. Did you see the social-emotional activity on this week's choice board? We would like to provide additional encouragement and guidance for this activity. Check out this 5-minute video from Mrs. Hodson on creating a "calm box." SEL Activity Week #1

Optional Parent Input Forms (repeat)
The vision for Madison Elementary is to create learning experiences for every learner, every day, in every way. It is essential to establish a learning environment that promotes the academic success, personal growth and general well-being of each and every child. As such, it is important we spend time ensuring that every child is placed in a classroom where he/she can thrive to his/her maximum potential. I will begin working closely with classroom, special education and specialist teachers as we begin to focus upon classroom placement for the 2020-21 school year.
Parent/Guardian input is certainly welcome if parents/guardians would like to share information about their child to support the placement process. The class placement input form has been designed for this purpose. Parents/Guardians are reminded that a request for a specific teacher by name cannot be accepted. Forms that request a teacher by name will not be considered. There are several reasons for this. For example, we could encounter a situation where the team feels two or more students should not be in the same class, yet their parents have requested the same teacher. Furthermore, there may be other reasons which prevent requested placement including confidential factors concerning other students. Additionally, with a growing student population, last-minute staff changes may occur which might prevent placing a student in a specific classroom. Parents/Guardians who complete the optional input form will need to have the form completed no later than Friday, April 10, 2020.
Our common goal is to make the school experience the best it can possibly be for every child. The Gardner Edgerton School District is fortunate to have excellent teachers who put children first. We all pledge to you that we will do all that we can to make your child’s education enjoyable, exciting, fun, meaningful and productive.
