Grade 3, Thursday June 4
Reading Books in a Series and Writing Reviews
Morning Message
Good Morning Thoughtful Thinkers,
Today is Thursday and I thought we could take some time to think really hard. I want you to think about someone that you see everyday and think about something they need to hear. Maybe it is something they need to be convinced of. You have been working hard on your persuasive skills, so let’s put them to work. When I think of someone I see everyday, I think of my daughter. I think she needs to know that she is doing a great job working really hard while being away from school. She is determined.
I might make her a card and say "I think you need to know that you are working really hard. You are determined because you never give up. Even when something is tricky, you keep trying. Keep it up! You can do hard things! Love, Mom”
You can make someone a card with paper and markers or you can simply tell them face to face. Take time today to tell someone you are thinking of them and give some DETAILED encouragement! You will make them feel awesome!
English-Language Arts (ELA)
We are writing reviews this week! If you missed the ELA directions on Monday, click on the button below to watch them. They are important and you should check them out at least once this week!
To begin, it's time to read for 30 minutes. You can read books on Myon (through classlink), at GetEpic.com, or with books you have at your house. I hope you found a great chapter book series to try!
Next, it's time for writing workshop for 20 minutes, maybe on the google doc planning page you chose yesterday or maybe on your own paper. This week we are working on writing a review, but you can also write whatever you want!
If you are typing your work, remember to use the same doc or slideshow you started on Monday. You should go to classlink or google to find it. If you have not started your reading journal slideshow yet, click on the button below to get the template.
Then, it's time to practice your reading fluency. Remember to read smoothly and with expression.
Fluency Lesson
Choose 1 of these three choices to practice your reading:
