Math
We will continue Unit 2 this week. You probably have noticed by now sometimes your child will be required to view videos and take notes prior to learning a new concept. This is what we call "Flipped Classroom". This is a great way to find out what concepts the students already know and what they still need to learn. A quick quiz will be given the next day to see if your child understands the concept. If they do, they will do some partner work or individual practice. If they do not understand the concept, they will be part of the direct instruction portion of the class. Once I go over the concept with them, they will then practice the concept. Study Links will be done in class. They will more than likely not come home for homework unless your child didn't finish in class. Please don't hestiate to contact me with any questions.
Science
This week in science we will be learning about the cycle of day and night.
By the end of this lesson, students should be able to:
- Draw a simple diagram to explain how when it is daytime on one side of the Earth it is nighttime on the other
- Know that Earth’s rotation on its axis creates the cycle of day and night
- Understand that stars, planets, and the sun don’t move, but rather that the Earth moves
- Use objects to model the difference between rotate and revolve
