Message from Brenda
Dear Parents, Caregivers and Students
Farewell to Trish - Many of you have expressed that you are unable to come to the coffee morning on Thursday in the library due to other commitments, we know it’s a busy time of the year for you. So rather than having this as a formal event, Trish would love to catch up with you in the playground on Thursday (tomorrow) morning from 8.15am. Alternatively feel free to pop into the library between 8-8.30am to say goodbye on Friday morning. Trish will also be sending her final library newsletter out today. Be sure to read it!
Other Farewells
We are saying farewell to many students, families and a few staff who will be moving on for the next academic year. These farewells took place in assembly last week and will continue in the final assembly this week. For those of you who are leaving, please remember you’ll always be part of the Glenealy family - please do come back and see us and best of luck in your new school, country and/or workplace. Our final assembly will be jammed-packed full with leavers families so sadly we will not be able to accommodate everyone, however we will catch up with you in the playground at 12 noon.
If you thought the last week of school was quiet…..you MUST read on!
Over the last week we have had a feast of wonderful performances from students! Year 1’s proudly demonstrated outstanding research and presentation skills when sharing their animal projects with buddy classes, staff and parents. Great job Year 1 we are so proud of your learning!
Sixty students playing recorders all at once is quite a mission! However, the Year 2’s showed us this was possible and tuneful at the same time! Great playing and singing Year 2’s we really enjoyed it and so did your parents.
Year 3’s showed their great skill and determination when performing their pieces on the violin as a year group orchestra. We thoroughly enjoyed the show and I think the parents were pleasantly surprised at how tuneful sixty violins could sound. Great job Year 3 - Mr Benzie thinks it was the best ever!
Mrs Rutkowski and the Year 4 team organised a superb alumni football game to say goodbye to Mr Sommerville. This event was fantastic and the whole school joined in with cheering and props to support Mr Sommerville. Sad to say, Mr Somerville was not quite so good at his penalty shoot-outs but loved the event anyway.
Year 5’s performance of Singin’ in the Rain was sensational! Talent and enthusiasm was displayed by all. It was a really great evening and one that everyone who was involved in can be very proud of. A special thanks to Mr Benzie and the Year 5 team for guiding the students and encouraging them to make every moment count when on stage. The new Centre helped to provide a very professional environment to show off their acting skills. Well done Year 5 students. Your performance was fantastic and many of you were risk takers, braving the stage for the first time! This may well spark a passion for a lifetime.
Year 6 students have had a number of performances shared with the school and parents. Their drama of the 7 Chinese Brothers was excellent and it was a rather emotional day yesterday when we said goodbye to the students at their Year 6 graduation. They sung, danced, shared their hopes and dreams for the future and showed us how ready they are for their big move to secondary school! Good luck Year 6 - we wish you all the best. You’ll always be part of the Glenealy family - please do come back and see us.
Thank you to members of our committees and to parents in support roles
Finally I would like to thank the members of our PTA, School Council and to the people who have been class parents and also shop volunteers throughout this year. Thanks for your ongoing commitment and giving service to the school and its community. A huge thank you to Christine Meaney for her leadership of the PTA, to Gwen Heath in her role as Vice Chair and to Judy Vas the outgoing Chair of the School Council. You have all led your teams admirably and have achieved so much, of which we can all be proud. Thank you.
Happy holidays everyone.
Kind regards
Brenda
