Southeast Fountain Mustang Round-Up
March 22, 2020
Reflectons From the Principals
It truly has been an unexplainable two weeks for educators. The emotions we feel and that all of you feel, are real. We worry a lot about our students.
Have they eaten?
Are they okay?
What do they need?
What can I do to help them?
These questions and more are running through our minds during this time of uncertainty and while we don't have answers to all of them, we will be putting together some ideas for ways that we can reach out to our students to check on them.
As Mr. Foster mentioned, there are still many unknowns, but rest assured the administrative team will be meeting together to discuss what's best for students in the Southeast Fountain School Corporation and our plans moving forward. In the meantime, if you would like to volunteer to pack food/deliver food for our students (beginning March 30th), please sign up HERE. Mr. Foster has asked that you just sign up for one time slot for now so that we can remain compliant with social distancing during this process.
Together we will get through this!

IHSAA/Athletics Updates, Mr. Good
Currently, we still intend to stage an abbreviated spring sports program. The provisions to follow are contingent upon a return to school including approved gatherings of multiple students by May 1, 2020. From this point forward until May 1, 2020, all IHSAA spring sports (Track & Field, Unified Track & Field, Softball, Baseball, Boys Golf and Girls Tennis) are now to revert to IHSAA By-Law 15-2, During School Year Out-of-Season. This allows parents and students to make an independent determination to seek activity that is non-school sponsored while schools are out of session. This is NOT an invitation to begin a limited contact period or conditioning which is school sponsored and against the directive of our Governor. If we are able to resume on May 1, 2020, the number of separate days of practice necessary to participate in any interscholastic event, including contests shall be set at five (5).
Key points are that -
1 - The IHSAA has canceled the boys basketball tournament, but still plans to hold a shortened spring season.
2 - Athletes are all considered "out-of-season" right now, so they would be allowed to workout with an independent group (club teams, etc.), but coaches cannot hold "limited contact" workouts, as that would be school-sponsored.
3 - If we return May 1, as planned, athletes will need only 5 practices, instead of the usual 10, to begin competitions.
