Principal's message
Dear Lowell Parents,
Lowell students began taking NWEA assessments this week. NWEA Measures of Academic Progress® (MAP®) are adaptive reading and math computerized tests. The assessments are administered in August, December, and May and are designed to target students’ academic performance according to their current achievement level. These tests determine students’ instructional level and measure academic growth throughout the school year and from year to year in the areas of reading and math.
MAP tests are adaptive tests which means that test items become more difficult as questions are answered correctly, and test items become less difficult when incorrect answers are selected. The tests, therefore, are specifically created for students’ learning levels and allow us to accurately identify students’ levels of understanding with reading and math concepts. Students will continue with NWEA Assessments next week. Please encourage them to put forth their personal best effort in order for us to have an accurate picture of their learning.
We appreciate your patience in our car rider line. Please make sure to follow morning and afternoon procedures to ensure the safety of students. In the morning, it is important that you pull your car up along the curb line. Please do not leave gaps in the car rider line. When you arrive, you should go as far south along the curb as you can and move your vehicle close behind the car in line in front of you. Stopping in front of the main doors and leaving gaps causes other cars to move around vehicles in the morning and delays the morning routine. In addition, it causes safety concerns with vehicles moving down the center lane and around other vehicles. Thank you for your attention to this matter! We simply want to ensure that all students are safe when arriving and dismissing from school. We appreciate your support with this!
It is not too late to join the Lowell PTA for the school year. Please look in the newsletter and complete the form. You can send it in with the membership fee to school with your child. Thank you for your support of Lowell students!
Please take some time to review the Student Success Handbook and to complete the receipt form acknowledging that you have reviewed the document. Please send this receipt form back to school with your child. As always, reach out to me if you have any questions.
Have a great weekend!
Mrs. Griffin
