We Live the Word!

From the Principal's Desk

Dear Father Doyle Families,

What a blessed week it has been at Father Doyle School! On Tuesday evening, we enjoyed our Jingle Mingle and Tree Lighting. Thank you to our SPARK Business students who sold delicious hot chocolate during the event, as well as our own Mr. Mattias for providing Christmas Carols. The winner of the Snowman Decorating contest will be announced next week - thank you to all who competed, it was a blast!

In addition, special thanks to Mrs. Gagnon, our music teacher, for all of her hard work in preparing our students for the Christmas Concert held on Thursday. You can find Youtube recordings of the daytime performances here (PK-2 ; 3-5 & Choir; 6-8). It was a wonderful evening performance as well, and I hope it brought each of our families some joy in this Advent season!

Lastly, please note that this upcoming Wednesday, December 22nd will be a Dress Down Day with a twist! Students in grades K-4 will celebrate the coming of Christmas with a pajama day, and students in grades 5-8 are encouraged (not required) to wear Christmas/Ugly Sweaters. In addition, a suggested donation of $2.00 per student will be donated to help support schools in Kentucky damaged by the recent tornados. Please note, a donation is not required to dress down; however, any amount is greatly appreciated in support of this worthy cause. Dress code for no uniform days can be found here.

As we prepare for the Christmas recess in just a few short days, some reminders to help keep our community safe and healthy:

  • If your child is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or has been exposed to a positive case of COVID-19, they must stay home from school.
  • The travel policy at Father Doyle School remains as follows:

"To lower the chances of spreading COVID-19 and help mitigate risk within the school community, Father Doyle is requiring students who are not vaccinated who have traveled from a location for vacation or similar extended stay within the United States to submit a negative PCR test taken upon their arrival back in Rhode Island prior to returning to school. Unvaccinated students choosing not to get tested will be required to quarantine for seven days while monitoring for symptoms before returning to school."

  • In an effort to mitigate potential spread after the Christmas recess, Father Doyle School will be holding a PCR testing event on Thursday, December 30th from 9am-11am. Please note that this testing event is for students and staff at Father Doyle School only. You must RSVP to attend this clinic by using the Google Form here. More information regarding this testing event will be sent to families at the beginning of next week.

Spare Masks for the Day

A reminder to please pack a few spare masks for your child at school. During the day, masks often become dirty, saturated, or broken. We do have disposable children's masks available when necessary; however, we have gone through a high volume particularly over the past three weeks. Thank you for your help!

God bless you, and Go Saints!

Sincerely,

Mr. Peloquin

Aluminum Can Tab Collection

What: Aluminum can tabs are being collected

Why: To support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence

How can you help? Save can tabs and send them in to Mr. Godin’s room.

Bottle Cap Drive

We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This provides new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply send in bottle caps or product codes from boxes of beverages and our school receives a donation.

All caps and codes should be sent to Mr. Godin. Codes will be entered on one account to gain larger and quicker donations.

Thank you!
