Cambridge Seniors Earn Gold Award from Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta
Congratulations to Cambridge High School seniors Katie Krznarich, Ruhi Shirke, Grace Ghent, and Emily Kitchens, who have recently been awarded the Girl Scout Gold Award by the Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta. The Gold Award represents the highest achievement in Girl Scouting and is earned by less than 6% of Girl Scouts across the country. Completion of their Gold Award projects required extraordinary dedication, perseverance, and leadership acts that indelibly mark them as accomplished members of our community. Well done, ladies!

Update from Ms. Agans
Good afternoon Bears! Just a few items to make sure we are all “in the loop”! Here is the info to know for this week:
ACT – the district is paying for juniors to take the ACT this year. Juniors must sign up (at this link) to take the test. The sign up has been open for a week now. It closes on Monday, 2/8/2021, at 11:59 pm. This is a district requirement, so the deadline cannot be extended, and we cannot accept any late sign-ups. The test is in-person in the building on March 30th. There is not a remote option.
Course Verifications begin on Monday, February 8th in Advisement. Everyone needs to make sure they are present for Advisement on Monday to get the directions on how to access and make choices for their classes for next year. 1st Course Verifications will be requested through Infinite Campus this year. Students need to make sure they have access to their Infinite Campus account and submit their course requests by 4 PM on Friday, 2/12/21.
There are resources on the website that will prepare students for course registration, including grade-level presentations, the curriculum guide, and videos for each of our special programs (electives and AP). A link is available from the ad on the front of the website or Academics > 2021-2022 Course Registration.
Teacher of the Year Nominations are now open. Students and parents are welcome to nominate their favorite teacher at this link.
Valentines - Reminder that there will be no deliveries for Valentines at the school, but we are encouraging all students to wear red or pink on Thursday, February 11th! Also, show your Valentine’s love for Cambridge by giving a shout out to a teacher or staff member who has made a difference in your student’s or family’s life at this link. Come on Bears, let’s show the love!
Band – We are happy for Ryan Borger but sad for Cambridge, as this beloved Band Director will be moving on to be the Director of Band at Colquitt County High School next school year. We still have four months with this wonderful music teacher and Cambridge family member but need to start the process in locating his successor. Our Band program belongs to our students and families who have poured their hearts into it. I want to honor their wishes and desires for a new Band Director as we start to narrow the field. So, I have put together this survey to ask for your feedback and thoughts on what kind of person you would like to see take over the program. The survey will be open until Monday, February 15th, at 11:59 pm.
Congratulations to our Girls Swim Team! They are State Runner Up!!! Our Drum Line welcomed them back after the State Meet today. Love these kids! Love this community! Thank you for your support for our students! Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Ashley Agans
Principal, Cambridge High School

Apply for HOPE Scholarship
If you have not completed the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), please do so as soon as possible. Colleges need the information to determine eligibility for grants, loans, and work-study programs. Check with the colleges your student has applied to to see the date FAFSA needs to be completed.
Although the HOPE and Zell Miller are included in the FAFSA application, Georgia Student Finance Commission suggests applying for this scholarship by completing the Georgia Student Financial Aid Application System (GSFAPPS). The deadline to apply for the HOPE/Zell Miller is the last day of school. To access GSFAPPS, an applicant must go through www.gafutures.org.
Zell Miller Applicants - Test Scores Needed
For Georgia High School graduates and home study completers (from accredited schools and programs), the Zell Miller Scholarship's initial academic requirement includes an acceptable ACT or SAT score. You can now upload SAT or ACT documents to the Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC).
To upload your SAT or ACT score report using the GAfutures' Document Upload feature:
- Print your test score report from ACT’s website or College Boards website for the SAT.
- Sign, date, and write this statement on the report: "This is a true and exact copy of the original score report."
- Sign in to your GAfutures account and select Document Upload, located on the page's left-hand side.
- Select the ACT scores or SAT scores document type based on the type of report you are uploading. (acceptable file types are: pdf, jpg, jpeg, png, bmp, gif, tiff)
- Attach your document file and select the submit button.
Georgia students can track their "My High School Hope GPA" through their GAfutures account. The site display when an acceptable test score is received. Once a document is uploaded, the average review time is seven to ten business days. Note: First-semester transcript grades will be recalculated by GSFC and available to view at the end of February.

Student Wellness Survey
The Georgia Student Health Survey, Georgia Parent Survey, and Georgia School Personnel Survey will not be administered during the 2020-21 school year. Instead, the Georgia Department of Education has developed a brief Student Wellness Survey which will be administered to middle- and high-school students. The administration window will be open from February 1, 2021, through April 2, 2021.
The Student Wellness Survey is designed to collect data on student wellness during the current school year; it is anonymous and completely voluntary and includes questions about peer and adult social support, bullying, stress, mental health, substance abuse, and suicidal ideation. The survey results will provide districts and schools with data regarding the non-academic barriers to learning being faced by their students.
Esports at Cambridge
All students interested in competing on our new Esports team must complete the GHSA Participation Forms through the DragonFly Online System. We also need interested students to fill out the Esports Eligibility Form to confirm their eligibility to complete.
