10 End of Year Tech Tips You Can Do

Here are 10 end-of-the-year tech tips that you can easily do before we leave for summer recovery. Let's start fresh in September.

1) Clean out your email. File the emails or delete them.

2) Empty your email trash.

3) Clean up your desktop. File those pesky files or send them to the trash.

4) Empty your desktop trash.

5) Clean up your Chrome Extensions. If they haven't been used in a while, remove them from Chrome.

6) Clean up those bookmarks. If they haven't been used in a while, remove them.

7) Create a 2020-2021 folder in your Google Drive. Store those photos or files from this year for easy access in the future.

8) If you have files on your Chromebook, make sure your 'Files' folder is synced to your Google Drive.

9) Take some time and clean out or organize your Drive. DO NOT DELETE files that don't belong to you.

10) Find an interesting social media PD and share it with a colleague. Feel free to tag me on Twitter(@Math3203) or Instagram(@60_With_Saint).

Check it out! Pun intended.

Yes, this math teacher READS!

I don't know about you, but I really enjoy reading in the summer. Whether it's by a pool or the lake, traveling, or sitting at home, the summer allows me time to recharge those creative juices and get some fresh ideas. I currently have 3 books waiting to be read: 1) The Secret Sauce by Rich Cycz(Guest on Empower Hours last Spring) 2) UDL and Blended Learning: Thriving in Flexible Learning Landscapes by Catlin Tucker and Katie Novak and 3) a title I don't think would be appropriate to be shared on this forum but if you asked when you see me around I would be glad to share it with you :). So if you are looking for a summer read once you have had some time to recover, check out this summer reading list published by Marissa King.

Getting in Compliance

In an effort to get in compliance with New York State's Data Privacy and Security Policy (NYS Ed Law 2D), WCSD has to check and make sure that the sites, software apps, and tools that are utilized at school and with our students are compliant. If there are sites, software apps, and tools that you are using with your students, could you please take a second and fill out the form below to let us know what those sites, software apps, and tools are? Fill it out as a team, a department, or on your own.

Here is the link to the form: https://forms.gle/tmbzuGeP7dttjZ6S8 or you can access it by clicking on the form icon located to the right.

Here is a link to more information on Ed Law 2D (provided by MORIC and RIC ONE).

Would you Mind Sharing?

It seems like it's been a year, but we made it through the first 6 months! I have been fortunate to witness colleagues finding their stride and using strategies and techniques that have helped with the start of this unprecedented school year. However, there are colleagues that could use some ideas on strategies and techniques that could help in their transition to this style of hybrid/remote learning. If you are willing to share, please click on the Google Form below so we can compile some strategies that have been effective for you. Just drop a quick note in the Google Form and I will be in touch. THANK YOU!!!

Feedback Welcomed and Encouraged
