Morning Arrival
Eagle staff members are outside and ready to welcome car-rider students starting at 7:45 each morning. This allows ample time for our families to drop off and for students to make their way to class without feeling rushed.
As stated in our student handbook, "Tardiness takes away from valuable learning time at the beginning of the school day and may make children anxious as they walk in late to a classroom."
We appreciate your help as we work to get the day off and running with all of our students.
4th grade parents, don't miss this great opportunity!
Coffee Talk with Principal Matt Doublestein
Date: Monday, February 26th, 2018
Time: 8:00 - 9:00 AM
Location: Eagle Elementary Staff Lunchroom
Calling all 4th-grade parents of rising 5th graders! Please join us in the staff lunchroom on Monday, February 26th for a casual "coffee talk" with the principal of Zionsville West Middle School, Mr. Matt Doublestein. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet Mr. Doublestein in a more casual and intimate setting to discover what middle school will be like for your child. This optional meeting will begin at 8:00 am with a brief introduction. The remainder of the agenda will then be guided by your queries and will last for approximately one hour. Regretfully we cannot provide childcare, however, please do feel to bring your little ones with you if needed. Thank you!

Zionsville Coder DOJO
After a very successful first term that saw more than 100 students participate across 4 programming courses, the Zionsville CoderDojo would like to continue that momentum on 2/25 at Zionsville High School at 2 pm with a recap of the first term and a kickoff of the second term. We will recognize graduates from the first term, provide some snacks, and outline the next set of courses that will be offered in the second term. Parents and students will have an opportunity to register for these courses that will begin in March 2018.
As a refresher, CoderDojo is a global organization devoted to preparing children aged 7 to 17 for all concepts in technology by putting them through FREE coding courses. These courses are taught by volunteers who are technology industry veterans. Though the program is targeted towards ages 7-17, all are welcome. For more information see the main homepage at coderdojo.com.

Valentines Day Parties
We look forward to celebrating Valentine's Day with our students at their classroom parties on Tuesday, February 14th. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to emphasize the life skill of friendship with all of our students.
A few important items to note:
- If you are volunteering for the party, district policy requires you must have a FULL background check on file. If you don't yet have a FULL background check, you will need to apply for that as soon as possible as it takes 7-10 business days to be completed. You can apply for the background check by clicking here.
- In addition, volunteering requires undivided attention in order to assist in a creating a smooth event. Please remember that siblings to students should not attend the party with volunteers. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
- As you are shopping for Valentines to share with classmates, we encourage you to select cards and/or trinkets that are inedible. This could include pencils, erasers, stickers, etc. Providing non-edible Valentines assists us in our pursuit to ensure that all students can have a safe and fun celebration.
All volunteers are pre-arranged through the classroom teacher or their designee.
Cold Weather and Recess Reminder
Reminder: Our students go outside for recess unless it is raining, icy, or on very cold days (when the wind chill is below the 10-20 degree range).
