From the Principals

Dear RES Community:

We hope that you enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends.

Please remember that Lifetouch picture re-take day is this Thursday. Send your child to school with their current portrait package to be returned for the re-take. Students that missed picture day in October are eligible to have their photo taken this Thursday too. Once ALL pictures and retakes have been completed, Lifetouch will then create the class composites for all grades.

Enjoy a wonderful rest of your week -

Sharon Weirsman, Interim Principal

Joe Amodio, Assistant Principal

Health Office Updates:

  • Please see the attached letter detailing the SCREEN & STAY policy. Please note this is a very specific policy with specific criteria and may help to minimize the number of quarantines we may have to put in place, but it does not eliminate them. There are also very specific criteria that need to be met while a student is actively in a screen and stay situation. Screen and Stay Letter (1).pdf
  • Please continue to monitor your child(ren) for any signs and symptoms of illness. Please keep students home if they are sick and/or if they have a temperature above 100.0 F. Report absences in School Dismissal Manager and/or email the nurse.
  • In the presence of a fever (temperature above 100.0 F) or significant illness your child should see the pediatrician and will need a covid test or an alternate diagnosis (ear infection, strep throat, etc.) prior to returning to school. In any case of fever or vomiting, the child needs to be fever free (without medication) or not vomiting for 24 hours or more prior to returning to school.
  • Please report cases of strep throat, influenza and other communicable illnesses to the school nurse.
  • Please report all POSITIVE COVID tests immediately to the school nurse and the district coordinator at covid@er9.org and jconnolly@er9.org. If you have any questions about this or the protocols please call 203-938-2519 ext. 309. Also notify the nurse if your child is identified as a close contact of someone with covid outside of school.
  • Flu shots are required for all students in Preschool program; please send proof of flu vaccine to Jen Connolly at jconnolly@er9.org prior to December 31st.
  • **THE WEATHER IS GETTING COLDER - please ensure your child has coats, hats and gloves as we will continue to go outside for PE and recess. Please also consider sending a change of clothes in your child's backpack for all students in case of muddy or wet falls on the playground or other spills.

Thank you - Nurse Connolly

Fall 2022 Kindergarten Registraton

Enrollment for Fall 2022 Incoming Kindergarteners is now underway. The enrollment materials for registration is located in the PDF document below this message.

Registration will take place at RES via the main entrance vestibule on Wednesday, December 8 from 10:00am - 1:00pm and again between 1:45pm - 2:30pm.

IF you are not able to make that date, please call Komal Kulkarni to set up a mutually convenient time to drop off your registration forms. She can be reached at 203 938-2519 Ex. 302 or kkulkarni@er9.org.

RES Pre-Kindergarten students moving to Kindergarten in the fall will be registered separately in January. You do NOT need to come to RES on this day OR complete the registration packet below. A separate email will be sent to RES PreK families with directions on that registration process that will move your child from PreK to K. Thank you.

As we are in the midst of budget development for the 2022 - 2023 school year, if you are not 100% certain if your child will attend Kindergarten in the fall; we strongly suggest you enroll you child so that we make budgeting decisions based on the number of students we expect.

We look forward to welcoming your child to Kindergarten next fall.

YES, WE NEED YOU!!! We can never have too many subs!!

Subs are desperately needed to help out in classrooms, at recess and in our café. If you or someone you know has some time to sub at RES and work with our youngest friends and future leaders of the world - please go to the ER9.org website and complete the application in Applitrack located under the HUMAN RESOURCES tab.

Thank you so much for considering this request.

We truly appreciate it.

OH MY GOODNESS. The amount of "lost" clothing is taking over our vestibule!!!

Please stop by and check out the inventory. Items not claimed will be donated in the next couple of weeks. This will (unfortunately) make room for MORE anticipated lost items.

We have some very nice sweatshirts, jackets, along with water bottles, lunch boxes, mittens, hats, scarves and sneakers!

Thank you - Bobbie

We encourage you to label your child's name on all clothing. Clothing with names on them have a better chance of finding their way back to your child.

With colder weather now here, layers and or an extra sweater might be handy for your child.

Thank you.

Dismissals for parent pick-up is by our CAR TAG system. Families who were here last school year should have retained their car tags to be used while their child is at RES. New families were issued car tags that you should keep until your child enters JRMS in Gr. 5.

There are 3 backpack tags that can be used for siblings either now, or later as your family grows. IF you lose one or do not have enough, please consider making copy of that tag to match your car tag number and affix to your child's backpack.

Information regarding our dismissal procedure is available in our summer mailing located on our website at www.reddinglementaryps.org Please refer to our handbook.

Thank you -

Important Reminders

Please do not park in Fire Lanes. They should remain open for emergency vehicles at all times.

Arrival & Dismissal

Parents/Guardians who are dropping off students in the morning, or picking up students in the afternoon are asked to remain in their vehicles during this process. We will have staff on hand ready to support during these transition times. If you are dropping off your child in the morning please be sure their mask is on and backpack is ready BEFORE you pull up to the drop off location, so that we can quickly and safely transition kids out of vehicles and into the building.

IF your child needs extra help getting in / out of your vehicle, please park your car in an available parking space to assist your child, and please walk them to the curb. This will help move our car line along more swiftly.

RES Visitors

Due to the current health and safety precautions in place, we are limiting visitors in our building to essential business only. If you need to come to the school to pick up your child, please be sure you have a government issued ID on you for entry each and every time. Even if we recognize you, we will ask for your ID. This is our policy.

Traffic Safety

Please be reminded to follow all traffic rules while driving in our parking lots and around RES, including stopping at stop signs and adhering to the speed limit. Cars may not travel into the bus loop during arrival and dismissal.

School Dismissal Manager

If there are changes to your child's dismissal plans, remember to log in to School Dismissal Manager to update with the new plans before 1:30pm or 11:30am on an early dismissal. A reminder that 'bus' is the default for all students. Distribution of a student pick up number tag, or the data from the summer survey does not automatically inform us that your child is a pick up. RES relies on our daily SDM report as to what your child is doing at the end of the school day.

Please be mindful that there are students being dropped off for classes other than just PreSchool at the far side of the building. There are attempts to make 3 point turns in the middle of the driveway. This is causing vehicles to back into the vestibule entry location, which is VERY dangerous with the students and staff entering that doorway. THANK YOU.
