Report cards will be distributed to students this Friday, November 18th. The end of the first quarter is a good opportunity for students and families to sit down and discuss any needed improvements and how to access supports from the school. As a reminder, students may attend tutoring before and after school, meet with teachers by appointment, meet with their school counselor to discuss available interventions, and chat with their teacher about how to improve their understanding of the content.

Please remember that this is just the beginning of the year and students have 3 quarters to improve their grades. For 9th grade students, entering high school can be a big adjustment and we ask that you, as families, partner with us in our encouragement of students to get the help they need. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me or either of our Assistant Principal's if you have questions about how to get your student support.

Honor roll certificates will be distributed in advisory on Thursday, December 1st.

Family - Teacher Conferences will take place on Thursday, December 1st, 6:30-8:30pm, IN PERSON and Tuesday, December 6th, 4:30-6:30pm ON ZOOM. Links for signups will be sent shortly through a separate s'more.

Offering multiple formats to meet allows for families to attend that may have scheduling conflicts or work commitments. We appreciate your flexibility as we do our best to serve all families.

Watertown vs. Belmont Fenway game is right around the corner! To get excited, we will start our spirit week this Wednesday and end with a pep rally next Wednesday, the 23rd. Here are themes:

WEDNESDAY (11/16) - Crazy Hats and Socks Day... find your coolest pair of socks with your craziest hat!

THURSDAY (10/17) - Jersey Day... wear your favorite pro or Watertown jersey

FRIDAY (11/18) - Camo Day... wear all the camouflage you have!

MONDAY (11/21) - Pajama Day... come in your comfiest PJs and slippers!

TUESDAY (11/22) - Dress to Impress!... wear your sharpest business clothes

WEDNESDAY (10/19) Raider Nation Day... shows your school spirit by dressing in your class color! Seniors wear black, Juniors wear white, Sophomores wear red, and Freshmen wear gray

Students that prefer to not attend the pep rally will be given the option of a quieter space in the auditorium. As always, if you would like to dismiss your student, please contact our attendance office at 617-926-7730.

As part of our spirit week, we will be having a guest speaker and former Celtics player Chris Herren speak to our students about making positive choices and being kind to one another. Chris Herren will be touching on topics of addiction as it pertains to his journey. We understand that for some this topic may be too difficult to hear and would like to offer the auditorium as an alternative space during this presentation. Your student may discreetly ask their teacher to allow them access to the auditorium and permission will be granted.

The English Learners Parent Advisory Council will be meeting on Friday 11/18 from 7-8 pm at Hosmer School in the Learning Commons. Please see here for more information about the event.

Watertown SEPAC invites you to attend their Basic Rights: Evaluation and Eligibility Training today from 6:00-8:00pm. Please see here to register and for additional information.

Control of Moxley Field is being transferred to construction personnel and fencing will be installed soon to begin the project. There is a community forum to discuss Moxley High School Monday, November 21st, at 6:30pm. Please see the School Building Committee's website for details.

Athletics has opened registration for winter sports. The winter season starts on Monday, November 28th. Please be sure to register your athletes by Monday, November 21st so we can clear students to participate in the first day of tryouts.

Watertown High School is creating a database of STEM professionals/companies that would be willing to share their experiences with our students through classroom presentations throughout the school year. By providing this information to teachers, they can target presentations to topics being taught. If you are interested in being included on our list, please complete this STEM Professional Database Entry Google Form. You will need to be logged into a Gmail account to complete this form.
