Happy last Friday of the 2021-2022 school year, Everitt families!
Today we had an opportunity with our Everitt administrative and mental health team to celebrate the school year. We cried together as we talked about the resilience and growth of our students and staff. We celebrated the privilege that it was to be together in person this year. We celebrated lessons that we learned from the mistakes we made, things we tried that didn't quite work, and things we tried that worked well. We celebrated being in our beautifully remodeled building and our gratitude for it. And we celebrated our partnership with all of you. I would encourage you to talk with your children about their celebrations from this year. How did they grow this year as a student, a friend, and a person? What are they most proud of from the year? What are their hopes for next year?
8th grade parents, next week is such a wonderful week for our 8th graders! On Monday, we will continue learning as usual and wrap up the year. On Monday evening, many of our 8th graders will participate in the Great Debate. On Tuesday during the school day, our 8th graders will practice for continuation, show off their roller-skating skills at Skate City, clean out their lockers, and receive their yearbooks. We have some yearbooks left so please contact the office if you'd like to purchase one for your child for $25. Students should bring a packed lunch to school for the field trip. On Tuesday evening, 8th grade continuation begins at 6:30. 8th graders need to be here at 6:15 to get seated in the right seats. Remember to bring lawn chairs and/or blankets for the hill. In case of inclement weather, we will hold continuation in the gym. We will let you know if we are moving inside on Tuesday morning. After continuation, please stay for cake and lemonade to celebrate our 8th graders. School is optional for 8th graders on Wednesday.
6th and 7th grade parents, our 6th and 7th graders will have a fun week, too! We will continue learning as usual on Monday and Tuesday. 6th and 7th graders will clean out their lockers on Tuesday as well. On Tuesday evening, our 6th graders will celebrate their work in science this year from 4:30-6:00. On Wednesday, 6th and 7th graders only need to bring something to write with to school. We will sign yearbooks, have a kickball tournament, celebrate our accomplishments and growth in awards ceremonies, and enjoy a hotdog lunch together. All students are dismissed on Wednesday at 12:00. Buses will be running at 12:00.
Thank you for a wonderful year at Everitt. 8th grade families, it has been our privilege to partner with you! It has been an incredible blessing to work with your children. 6th and 7th grade families, we look forward to seeing you all in August. And incoming 6th grade families, we can't wait to get to know you! We will send out another newsletter in July with information about the 2022-2023 school year. Enjoy your summers with your families!
