ATTENDANCE MATTERS
The state of Washington requires schools to file a truancy petition after a student's 7th unexcused absence in a school year and before their 15th unexcused absence. OBJH and SHS are both filing truancy petitions on behalf of students who are experiencing excessive unexcused absences.
If your child is experiencing barriers to attend school, please reach out to our 7th grade counselor Ms. Nielsen or our 8th grade counselor Ms. Adams. Our counselors will work with you to eliminate the barriers and find ways to support your child's attendance at school. We want to work with you and your child.
Co2 RACES
The Co2 car races have been happening at OBJ for almost 30 years. Engineering teacher Doug Sells supports students as they plan, sketch, design, and build their own cars in hopes of being the fastest. Students learn tool usage, measurement, and testing in things such as wind tunnel and weight. The students put their engineering skills to the test. This is a fun event! We all had a great time racing our cars over 2 days.
1st place winners were:
1st period, Joel Manke;
2nd period, Roman Stigall,
3rd period, David Frazier;
4th period, Chalie Clarke;
5th period, Carter Garcia.
Overall best time was Roman Stigall at 0.944 seconds.
ATHLETICS
A new sports season starts after Winter Break. There will be boys' basketball and dance. Further into the spring we will offer boys' soccer, girls' volleyball, and co-ed track and field. Everyone is invited to participate. Sign-ups are via Final Forms.
