IMPORTANT INFO.:
- Swimsuits may be worn UNDER clothing (learners will not be permitted to take off clothing and wear only swimsuits so comfortable clothing is imperative!)
- Dry fit clothes work best since they dry fast & are made for moisture. ;-)
- Place put LOTS of sunscreen on your child before dropping them off for school in the morning.
- Comfortable tennis shoes & a towel are a must!
- Bring a COMPLETE change of clothes (including undies) since we have wet stations! Learners will be allowed to change after field day is complete around 11:30 a.m.
Lunch and snack will be provided on field day. Homeroom moms are coordinating lunch plans and should be in contact with their homeroom class soon regarding those plans. J
Weekly Happenings
This week, we concluded our author's study on Doreen Cronin. In writer's workshop, we reviewed important components to include in our expository writing: interesting opening and closing sentences, descriptive details, punctuation, capitalization, and the use of transition words.
In spelling, we worked with the diphthongs -au and -aw that are found in words such as author, straw, auto, and awesome.
In social studies, we compared kinder and first grade and drafted a letter to our kindergartens to describe what they can expect in 1st grade. We also made Chatterpix to share with them about what we most enjoyed about first grade.
In science, we conducted experiments to find out what happens when you mix water with solid plant material. Do you know the outcome?
Cafeteria Accounts
Starting Monday, May 23rd your child must have money in his/her lunch account or cash to pay for their breakfasts, lunches, snacks, water, etc. Students may not have a negative balance in their lunch account. Any money left at the end of the year will be here in August. If you have any questions, please contact our cafeteria manager, Robyn Anderson at randerson@coppellisd.com
Book Bags Due May 19!
We truly appreciate your consistency in reading with your child until that date! We are conducting end of year assessments now, and your perseverance with that book bag really does affect your child! We are almost done...two more weeks of homework sheets and book bags!
Library Books
We will still check out as a class a couple more times before then, but please be aware that if your child does not bring BOTH books back on regular check out days, he or she will not be permitted to get new books during the next two weeks.
If your child has lost his or her book, you will be receiving information with the amount you'll owe to replace the book. Report cards will be held at the end of the year until missing library books are returned or replaced.
Change in Dismissal Routine
For example, if your child regularly walks home but is being picked up that day, the teacher must have a note or e-mail from the parent. If you wish your child to be picked up by another parent, you must also send that in writing or an email.
We will not change a child's dismissal without being notified by a parent. This is to ensure the safety of your child.
