The Temporarily Relocation of West Elementary School
As you have heard over the past week, West school will need to be evacuated so that mold can be removed from West Elementary School. The duration of this evacuation is unknown, and could potentially last through the end of the 2019-2020 school year.
Last evening, West Elementary hosted a parent meeting where many important questions were asked. The input parents provided during this time is helpful in preparing for our relocation.
During this meeting, a discussion occurred regarding teachers having adequate time to pack up their classrooms and move into their new location. Ensuring your child(ren)'s education is disrupted as little as possible during this process has been an essential goal of this transition. Part of that process includes allowing teachers time to prepare their new teaching space. Therefore, to allow teachers this time, there will be no school for students on Thursday, February 27. Friday, February 28 was already planned as a professional development day for teachers, with no school for students. There will be an open house on Friday, February 28 from 3-4pm at Discovery to allow parents and students to become familiar with this school and to see their classroom.
Please watch for forthcoming information regarding bussing services that will be provided to students who live within the West boundary area. Encore is available as an option for after school care, and space is available for more students. Applications are available in the West office.
