THIS WEEK AT SPES
FROM THE DESK OF DONNA LEMAIRE, PRINCIPAL
JERUSALEM
There are some songs that our students just sing out with abandon. If you have been at any of our school masses you probably have noticed. Jerusalem Our Destiny is one of those songs. This weekend we celebrate Palm Sunday. It is all about Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem and more. Sunday begins the Liturgical celebrations of the Triduum - Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday. We join as a community of faith and remember the Feast of Passover from the time of Moses until the time that Jesus celebrated the Passover with His disciples. Holy Thursday marks the beginning of the New Covenant, the establishment of the sacrament of Eucharist. I encourage you to create spiritual memories of this important liturgical season with your children. By remembering Jesus at the Last Supper, Jesus on the cross, and Jesus Resurrected we help children understand the gift of Life as God gave his Love to us through Jesus, The Lamb of God. Recognizing the limitless, unconditional love of God who did not spare his Son should fill us with awe, gratitude, love and grace. The Journey to Jerusalem ended with an empty tomb. The Risen Jesus conquered death, redeemed us, paid the ultimate price so that we, and our children, would have life more abundantly. May this holy season surround you with God’s love, fill you the Redemptive love of Jesus, and Empower you with the Spirit.
