MESSAGE FROM MRS. MOTZNY
Dear Parents,
Thank you for your help as we start another Super School Year! Your child's teacher will be sending home important information each week, and you can look here in our school newsletter for important school wide information. We will include reminders during these first few weeks of school, important dates, etc. Keeping up with school communication is one of the ways that you can help your Sampson Stallion succeed. We are looking forward to partnering with you through your child's elementary years.

Dress Code
Over the next week the Assistant Principals will be discussing the Student Code of Conduct and Student Handbook with the students. You can access this information on the district website. The following information will be shared with students.
Dress Code – Student Handbook
Students are not to wear clothing that is tight, loose, sagging, baggy, revealing, spaghetti-strap, backless, low cut or short. Shorts and skirts must fit at the waist or upper hip, must not reveal underclothing, , and must be mid-thigh in length or longer. This means that athletic shorts may not meet dress code standards. Tennis shoes or closed toed shoes are preferred as the students have recess each day and PE several times a week. Students are required to wear their ID badge on the school issued lanyard.
Reminder About Animals on School Grounds
Animals are not allowed on campus at any time. This includes arrival and dismissal time. The only exception to this rule are service animals that are assisting a disabled person. (Cy Fair Student Handbook pg. 34) Many of our students are afraid of animals, and large groups of people can make animals nervous.
COVID-19 Testing Update
Super Saturday Vaccination Day
Dear CFISD Community,
Super Saturday Vaccination Day is set for tomorrow, Aug. 28 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Berry Center (8877 Barker Cypress Road). A joint initiative between Harris County Public Health and the Houston Health Department, the event will provide free Pfizer vaccines to individuals age 12 and older.
As an added incentive, everyone who receives their first dose at this event will qualify for a $100 gift card. Parents of children age 12-17 must sign a consent form with incentive information. No appointment is needed.
The FDA recently approved the Pfizer vaccine on Aug. 23. Initially known as the Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine, it will now be marketed as Comirnaty. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), vaccination is currently the leading public health strategy to end the COVID-19 pandemic.
Learn more about Super Saturday Vaccination Day and other area vaccine providers by visiting the CFISD website.
Sincerely,
CFISD Communication

On Saturday, Aug. 28, Harris County Public Health will be administering the Pfizer vaccine to individuals age 12 and older at the Berry Center between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. Everyone who receives their first dose at this event will qualify for a $100 gift card. Parents of children age 12 and older must sign a consent form with incentive information. No appointment is needed. According to the CDC, vaccination is currently the leading public health strategy to end the COVID-19 pandemic. See a list of other area vaccine providers.
Self-monitoring for Symptoms
Students and staff must monitor daily for symptoms of COVID-19 and stay home when sick. If COVID-19 symptoms are experienced, individuals must not report to work or school, and test for COVID-19 or consult with a licensed healthcare provider.
Symptoms of COVID-19 include:
· Cough
· Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
· Loss of taste/smell
· Nasal congestion
· Sore throat
· Headache
· Fever at or above 100°F
· Vomiting/diarrhea
Hand Hygiene
Students and staff will be frequently reminded to wash hands thoroughly and often, cover coughs and sneezes, and use hand sanitizer throughout the day. All classrooms are equipped with hand sanitizer dispensers, in addition to building and cafeteria entrances and buses.
The keys to a successful start to the school year are staying home when sick, practicing good hand hygiene, getting a COVID-19 vaccine if eligible, and opting to wear masks when indoors. For more details on the health and safety protocols for the 2021-2022 school year, please view the LEAD Safely plan, which will be updated as needed throughout the year.

From the library
Here's to hoping the beginning of the school year has been great for your students!
In CFISD, all students have a district-issued Chromebook to fit our 1:1 system. New students will not receive a device until the 1:1 acknowledgement form is signed in School Cash. All students must have a form signed each year. All parents must complete the form in School Cash.
Happy Fox is new too! If a student has an issue with a device (cracked screen, mouse does not work, lost charger, etc), a Happy Fox ticket must be submitted from their account. Please see the attached directions.
Ask your child about 5th grade book club! More information is coming!
We have a great year planned in the library!

Requests for Teachers to Complete Paperwork for Outside Sources
Requests for Teachers to Complete Paperwork for Outside Sources
(Rating Scales, Observations, Areas of Strengths/Weaknesses)
In order for teachers to fill out forms or other information needed for outside sources (doctors, psychologists, agencies, private schools, taekwondo, tutors, etc.), we must have a release of information (consent) form from the parent. Parents may request the permission form from the counselor or through the teacher. A new permission form needs to be filled out each school year.
Once the permission form is completed and returned, the teachers may fill out the requested paperwork. At Sampson, we follow the District’s procedure to send the paperwork directly to the outside source (doctors, psychologists, agencies, private schools, taekwondo, tutors etc.) via fax or mail. If the parent chooses for the information to be mailed, an envelope (addressed to the outside source with postage attached) should be included with the paperwork provided by the parent.
These procedures are to ensure the student’s needs are addressed legally and ethically.
If you have questions regarding this process, please contact the counselor.
