Cargo News Unloaded
11th Edition
From the Editor's Desk
Dear Business Partners,
Greetings from DIAL!
We are glad to bring out the eleventh volume of Cargo News Unloaded. This issue will give you a glimpse of what has been happening for Cargo at IGIA, Existing Cargo Terminal Developments, Greenfield Cargo Terminal, new initiatives, ACI Award etc.
2015 was a year of pride for all of us since IGI Airport has been ranked the No. 1 Airport in the World (in the 25-40 mppa category) by Airports Council International (ACI) in Airport Service Quality (ASQ) for the year 2014. IGI Airport won National Award for Excellence in Energy Management 2015, Golden Peacock Award for Sustainability 2015 and DIAL also triumphed as a Leader in Business Excellence Awards organized by CII.
Advent of International Trade Growth and Relaxation of FDI cap has contributed to the growth both in terms of Passengers and Cargo. To further enhance the development, Indian Airports are now aspiring to become trans-shipment cargo hubs.
Trans-shipment throughput at Indian airports is also assumed to grow at a much higher rate than what it is now based on a number of factors. Given its geographic location, IGI Airport is well placed to capitalize on this opportunity. Keeping in view the importance of this high yield product, theme for this edition is “Trans-shipment”.
To begin with, India needs to facilitate transshipment of cargo to and from our neighboring countries, many of whom do not have regular air services to key markets in Europe and Americas. This enables hub to service more airlines and access more places compared to direct flights.
Two trans-shipment major hubs namely _____ and Fraport have shared their perspective on the transshipment facility and importance of infrastructure in this edition.
Further, I am happy to share that DIAL has recently launched the mobile app for real-time Cargo Transaction and Status. Cargo Mobile application will offer greater convenience to Airlines, Customs Brokers, Air Cargo Agents, Freight Forwarders and other customer’s for a variety of Cargo Transactions, for which details are also mentioned in this issue.
We hope that this issue will be informative and you will enjoy reading it. Please feel free to write to us and send us your feedback and suggestions at dialcargo@gmrgroup.in.
Wishing you and your family a very Happy and Prosperous New Year!!
With Best wishes,
