This Week at AES
1/16 - 1/20
For Your Information
- We will be having a Fire Drill on Thursday at 9:00. Here are a few reminders:
-If your students will be out of the room at that time (i.e. specials, resource room,
intervention), please have them take their coats with them so they don’t go back to the room before exiting the building.
-Please call the name of each student not with you. Resource teachers (or anyone else with students not with their teacher) will call the name of each student they have.
- Tuesday is a Professional Learning Meeting with WLES (at AES). Please sign up for your sessions as soon as possible.
- Our first Book Study Meeting will be on Tuesday, Jan 31st. MLK day is a great day to spend reading. Please contact your lead person if you are unsure what needs to be read by that time.
- The 2nd Round of Superintendent Walk-Throughs has started. Mr. Saylor will be visiting our school sometime this semester to observe the Conditions of our Soil.
- Please join me in welcoming Scott Hardison back to AES. Scott will be taking over Jill Parker's responsibilities.

Sticks and Stones....
I have had a goal over the past few years to try and count the number of interactions with people I have in one day. Many times those interactions are a "quick question" in the hallway or an urgent need on my office. I try my very best to be focused and listen during those interactions, but sometimes I fail miserably. My lack of focus and allowing the nuttiness of the day robs me of my opportunity to possibly make a lasting impact on someone.
Each of you have numerous encounters with great teammates and kids everyday. All of us are guilty of getting wrapped in the business of school and forget that we have the power to interact with people.
The quote on the bottom of Megan Hardesty's email reads, "Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be Kind. Always." What a great reminder of the power of our words.
