Our mission is to create TIES: Teach, Inspire, Encourage, Support
What a beautiful day! Let's hope for continued good weather over the weekend. It seemed like this was an exceptionally busy Friday for SESC-South. I appreciate how well staff work together to make this a supportive and productive community. There are some random things that I would like to make you aware of, so here goes:
Teaching Strategies GOLD online has been approved and is on it's way. You can actually download the iPad app for free, but will have to wait for your account information to start using it. You are in the process of collecting data already, and I think this application will make it easier and more meaningful.
Please be aware that duct tape has a component that is destructive to both floors and walls. See Bill for alternatives that are preferred.
We now have two rolling divider units (housed in rooms 2A and 25) that can be unfolded to about 13 feet. This is a great addition that should neaten up some heavily used spaces. Our new video screen will be mounted in the lobby sometime in the next week or two. This will give us the capability to run videos, announcements, and other informational displays for our many parents spending time waiting for their little ones. Please let me know if you have any pictures, video clips, or other information that could be displayed. It would be great to get some classroom pics for that format as well. Coming up, in the not to distant future, will be an information center to take place of our display unit in the lobby. This will be a central place to give parents access to handouts and other information about services and events in the community.
I will be emailing some information to you about concussion education. Everyone of us is required to complete the online training (like we do for Blood Bourne). You can follow the link listed below to get started. Be sure to print out your certificate and give me a copy.
I will also be supplying you with a Staff Skills Survey & Inventory to complete. The purpose of this survey is to determine which staff have equipment and/or special skills that will help us cope in the event of any disaster incident. We will keep this information in our crisis response notebook.
The On Boarding experience at GISD for new employees has been a big hit, so much so, that there will now be an opportunity for those of us wishing to experience it for ourselves. Since we are not just coming on board, it is call Re Boarding - let me know if you would like to take advantage.
We are participating in VG's Cash for Class! Instead of collecting receipts, individuals need to link their "yes" card to our group for us to get credit. During the weeks of: October 20-26, November 17-23, January 12-18, February 2-8, and February 23-March 1 any purchases you make with your "yes" card will automatically be added to our group's account. At the end of March, our group will receive a rebate check based on the percentage of all of our member's purchases.
In order to catch up with my late start with Committee work, I am scheduling two meetings to get the ball rolling. October 25 will be for B committees and November 15 will cover A committees. The purpose of the meetings is to plan the yearly meeting schedule and to produce preliminary goals.
