GA Milestones Training and Preparation
Thanks for participating in the Milestones training on Monday. Testing begins on May 1st. I know this sounds like it is far away, but the time will move quickly and it will be here soon! Use the log in information provided to you in the PowerPoint to have students log in and complete the practice questions. Share the information with families as well. Students can access the practice site from home too. Remember that students MUST click the submit button at the end of the test in order for it to be sent and scored. Please use the PowerPoint for reference in the types of questions and DOE resources. Your assessments and classwork for students should reflect the same format/types of questions so the students will not be surprised on the day of their test. K-2 teachers, please use the types of questions presented to create grade level appropriate items in class for your students as well. The more exposure we can provide to our students, the better.
Chromebook Transition
Jason will begin transitioning our Chromebooks over to the APS network. It is time to complete the prep work on your end for this to occur. What this means is that if students have work saved under their Google account, it will be lost if you don't transition the information now. Refer to the email sent by Jenny on Wednesday, Feb. 13th. If your students do not have information that needs to be saved, and you are ready to move forward, schedule a date with Jason to move forward. Everyone should be ready to move forward by March 1st. You have 2 weeks to save your students' information. I want to be sure Jason has time to complete this process so the DRC testing app and other testing information will be loaded on ALL of the Chromebooks and we are prepared for testing this spring. If you have additional questions, please reach out to Jenny and Jason for assistance.
Tiny Grants
Do you have an idea that may transform your classroom but need funding? The Governor's Office of Student Achievement provide innovation grants to classroom teachers that range from $1,000 to $7,000. The application is due on May 1st. Check out the types of grants that have been awarded (including one from WACS) at gosa.georgia.gov.
