From the Principal's Desk...

Dear Families,

This week we honored the many veterans and their families who have served our country. Our students participated in various activities throughout the week to pay tribute to veterans. Below is one example from second grade. Our second graders recognized family members, friends and neighbors and thanked them for their valuable contributions and sacrifices so that we may all enjoy our freedom. THANK YOU!

With Warm Regards,

~ Becky & Holly

Thank You Parents!

One of the district's themes this year is building relationships. We especially treasure our relationship with parents at Central. Thank you for your partnership during conferences. We appreciate the opportunity to share your children's successes and help to focus on their future goals.

Also a HUGE thank you to the PTA for providing the nourishing snacks throughout conferences. Not only were the snacks delicious, but they were very much appreciated!

Strategic Plan Update

We are continuing to work hard to set the foundation and put our strategic plan into action. One of our top priorities right now is rounding out our District Strategic Advisory Team, a group of representative stakeholders will help guide, inform and evaluate progress of our new Strategic Plan: Engage, Empower, and Inspire. We will continue to keep you all informed as we move forward with this important work.

Sister School Pen Pals

We are excited about our Sister School Partnership with Little Village Academy (LVA) in Pilsen. One of our main goals for our Sister School Partnership this year is to form meaningful connections with the students and classes. This year we are restructuring our communication with LVA so that our students can get to know each other on a personal level as pen pals. Central will begin the exchange. Our students will write letters in their classrooms by December 2nd. Families can watch this video to learn more about LVA. Overall, we are hoping that our Sister School relationship will continue to be an enriching experience for our students.

Cold Weather Lunch Procedures

While we prefer to have the children eat outdoors when their masks are off, we recognize that the weather is getting too cold to eat comfortably every day. Therefore, on days when the temperature is below 40 degrees outside, the children will eat indoors in the cafeteria and small gym spaces. When eating inside, students will be spaced 6ft apart as we continue to follow the guidance from our local health department.

D39 Parent Education Events

Our next parent education event is Wednesday, November 17th at 11am. It is titled Supporting Friendship Development and Connection. Please Register Here.
