Goals of Exploration
Jacques Cartier was looking for a new route to Asia and his goal was to find the land of riches.
Jacques Cartier did not accomplish his goals because he did not find a new route to Asia and he did not find any riches. Even though he didn’t find Asia, but he was the first person to claim Newfoundland for France.
Hardships/Challenges
During his travel, Cartier and some of his crew got the sickness scurvy. His ships were frozen and he spent the winter in Stadaconé, and found a cure to scurvy.
It was difficult because his ships were frozen for 5 months and for 2 months his men had the sickness scurvy.
Finances
The king of France ( King Francis)paid for his first solo exploration. King Francis was impressed with
Jacques Cartier’s work so he sent him back in may with three ships and 110 men.

Jacques Cartier thought that the Iroquois.Were friendly because they greeted them to their country and traded with them but, Jacque and his crew kidnapped some of their chiefs and then Jacque and his crew escaped from the Iroquois
