MMS Families,
We have so many things to celebrate here at MMS! It is Kindness Week and our students are working hard to spread the message of kindness.
Congratulations to our 7th & 8th grade Wrestling Team for winning the CHL Championship this past weekend! Our Math Counts Team competed this past month with Hutton Yankie being our top scorer for MMS! We are super proud of the team and excited that we have had almost forty students showing up this year for our Math Counts Club.
We have our parent scheduling meetings coming up in February (see schedule below). These will be conducted via zoom for your convenience. You can reach out directly after the meetings to Mrs. Cabral for specific questions. Even if you have older students in Madeira, some options have changed, so you will not want to miss these information sessions.
Don't forget, we have a teacher in-service scheduled for this coming Friday, February 17th, so there is no school for students. Presidents Day is also Monday, February 20th, with no school for staff and students. We hope you enjoy a long weekend with the kids!
A shout out to all of our MMS coaches this winter season. We appreciate all of your time and support for our MMS students as we finish up a great season for all!
Please continue reading below for upcoming dates/events such as our Parent Scheduling Mtgs.
Have a great week!

MMS Variety Show
It’s time for the annual MMS Variety Show!
Do you have a student with a special talent like singing, dancing, or playing the piano? Are they a magician who likes to show off their tricks? Maybe a comedian that wants to make the audience laugh!
Now is their opportunity to display their talent to the whole school on Thursday, March 9th, during the school day.
Practice will be held each Wednesday leading up to March 9th.
Please contact Mrs. Couzins, Mrs. Hurley, or Mrs. Friedman if you or your student has questions or could not attend the informational meeting after school last Wednesday.
From PTO: We Need Your Support
Luminary Chair:
Need someone to run our ONLY fundraiser.
There is a committee of 4 fantastic people already in place who know what is going on.
90% of the work is from your home.
It only takes 4 hours to assemble the luminaries with help of parents and NJHS kids.
Street Captains picked up the luminaries and delivered them this year.
Raises approx $10,000 for the Middle School.
World's easiest fundraiser.
School Supply Chair:
SUPER EASY!
Early Spring: Gather supply lists from teachers and send lists to Supply Kit Company for pricing
May - Send order link to MMS to include in newsletters
Early August - Sort kits by grade and distribute at Packet Pickup
This is an extremely important job.
Just a PSA to say that the teachers/staff at MMS are amazing human beings who love and help our children every day and we would like to keep supporting them. Please volunteer!
Please email langecombs3@gmail.com for more information or to volunteer.
From 1N5
In an effort to support the mental health and wellness of teens and youth in our community, 1N5 and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center partner to support a city-wide youth council for suicide prevention. The youth council will be starting a monthly newsletter in February with information regarding youth mental health with responses from mental health professionals in Cincinnati, testimonials from students, resources to encourage mental wellness, and connection points to help start the conversation with your kids about mental health. Please fill out the attached form to receive their newsletters and be part of promoting positive mental health in our city.
