2021-2022 Information
Welcome Back!
Dear Rocket Families,
Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year at RES! We are thrilled to start another successful year with our students. We know it's going to be the BEST YEAR YET at RES! As always, we appreciate your wonderful support for your child's education. We are ready to #ROCKet!

COVID Protocols for 2021-2022
Parents must understand that COVID protocols and guidance may change throughout the school year. Information on updated protocols will be shared as soon as it is received from the district. Your cooperation, understanding and kindness are all appreciated as we continue to work to keep our students safe and in school.
MASKS:
The RSS Board of Education passed a motion on July 12, 2021 making masks optional for all RSS students, staff and school visitors. Disposable masks will be available for students if needed.
VISITORS:
While visitors are allowed on school campuses, RES will take a cautious approach to visitors. To start the year, visitors will not be allowed to visit RES for lunch during the 1st quarter. We will also limit classroom volunteers to help ensure the safety of our students and staff. At the end of the 1st quarter, we will reassess and make adjustments as needed to our visitor restrictions. Our goal is to keep our students in school.
QUARANTINES:
Quarantine windows after exposure(s) will still be in place. RSS has clearly defined guidelines for quarantines. Please help us keep others safe by adhering to quarantine guidelines as explained to you when contacted by school personnel. A quarantine is not a punishment and is not meant to upset a family. Quarantines are in place to help ensure the safety of others who may be affected. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding.
HEALTH SCREENING AT HOME:
Parents are asked to perform a health screening at home each morning with children prior to school. Please do not send children to school who have a temperature of 100 or higher, and/or are exhibiting symptoms of COVID.
**In order to stagger our crowds and reduce the gathering numbers during our August 9 Open House, we are asking parents to visit classrooms for no more than 10-15 minutes.
Please keep your entire Open House visit to 30 minutes or less.
Thank you for your cooperation!**
Check out our new RES spiritwear for the 2021-2022 school year! These 4 designs (below) will be available at Open House!
First Day for Kindergarten Students
Kindergarten parents may walk students in to the classroom on the child's first staggered entry day. Parents are asked to only stay briefly. A quick goodbye is best for our newest students. Beginning Monday, August 16, all students should enter the school from the bus or car rider line on their own. We have many adults and older students ready to help. We promise to take great care of our new kindergarteners.

CAR RIDER INFORMATION
CAR RIDERS - ARRIVAL:
Car riders will be dropped at the back of the school in the car circle, which is accessed by Moses Street.
Staff members are on duty beginning at 7:00am to supervise early arrivals at school. Students may be dropped off beginning at 7:00am. Do not leave your child prior to 7:00am. It is unsafe for your child to be on campus unsupervised. Students should not get out of the car until a staff member is on duty in the car circle. Please be in the car line as close to 7:00am as possible.
Drop-off in the car line is between 7:00am-7:30am. Students must be in their seats in the classroom by the 7:30 tardy bell; therefore, those arriving after 7:30am must be walked into the front office by a parent to sign-in late.
Parents are not to get out of the car in the car line. This is to keep the line moving, and the line back-up minimal. The car line moves at a brisk pace, so we ask that you refrain from using cell phones so your absolute attention will be on students and staff members on the sidewalk.
Students must always exit the vehicle from the right side (closest to the sidewalk). Staff will assist younger students exiting cars. Older students are should exit the car on their own. It is advised that you practice this with your child before school starts.
Please watch for staff members to give you directions. Stay alert, use patience and be kind. Our priority is safety.
School begins at 7:30am. ALL STUDENTS WHO ARE TARDY MUST BE SIGNED IN BY THE PERSON WHO TRANSPORTS THEM TO SCHOOL.
ENTERING and EXITING THE CAR LINE: Please do not “cut” into the car line by attempting to turn left into the car circle from Link Street. If your residence in on that side of RES, we still request that you circle RES and enter the car link from Link Street. Breaking in line is highly frowned upon by other waiting parents. After drop-off, exiting the car line is RIGHT TURN ONLY. Please do not attempt to turn left across traffic (wrecks have occurred due to this improper turn).
CAR RIDERS - DISMISSAL:
Car riders will be loaded from the back of the school. The circle drive in the back of the school is accessed from Moses Street. Please display from your rear view mirror the car tag assigned to you for pick up. Parents can get car tags at Open House. For safety reasons, you may be asked to show a picture ID when picking up a child.
Staff members begin the afternoon car line at 2:30pm. The line is usually completed by 2:50pm. Please be prompt in picking up your child each day. Students who are not picked up on time will be taken to the office and a parent/guardian will be called.
Parents are not to get out of the car in the car line. This is to keep the line moving, and the line back-up minimal. Students must always enter the vehicle from the right side (closest to the sidewalk). Staff will assist younger students entering cars. Older students should enter cars on their own.
Please do not “break” into the car line by attempting to turn into the already formed line. Breaking in line by using Moses Street is highly frowned upon by other waiting parents who properly got in line from Link Street. After drop-off, exiting the car line is RIGHT TURN ONLY. Please do not attempt to turn left across traffic.
Drivers not following school procedures for the car line will be addressed by staff
and administration. Multiple violations and unsafe acts in the car rider line may result in a ban from the car line. Action steps will be taken to ensure the safety of our students and staff members.
