Blackboard App Messages
Most parents of secondary students are very familiar with the Sparta Township Public Schools app. Elementary parents can also use the app to follow school calendars, make mealtime payments or check balances, view student report cards, and importantly, view previous school e-mails. If you don't have the app you can use these instructions to get started.
In addition you can view most all grade or all school e-mails via our school website (see very bottom of this newsletter for tips on where to find the link).

What's Happening in ELA...
5th GRADE:
In Language Arts, fifth graders are working to build skills and key strategies specifically for the reading of nonfiction. They are applying these skills and strategies in their self-selected texts while working towards the 40 Book Challenge. Students have also been extending their thinking about text by writing to learn.
4TH GRADE:
4th graders have been immersed in informational (non fiction) text. The students are reading several examples of informational text to determine the MAIN IDEA and supporting details as well as researching a self-selected topic. Students have learned about text features and how they are used by authors to develop meaning and understanding within a text. In addition, the students are learning how to determine the text structure of information texts.
COLD LUNCHES AT HMS
Until further notice, HMS will only be serving cold lunches. Those choices include: Turkey/Cheese Hoagie; Italian Hoagie; Muffin Bag; Yogurt Bag and Cereal Bag. We will notify you as soon as the menu goes back to hot lunch choices.
