Shark Tank

Congratulations to the 5th-graders on an incredible invention convention. Students identified a problem and designed a solution. Once they came up with an idea for an invention, they formulated a pitch and created a google slides presentation. They also designed and built prototypes. Some students wrote, edited and filmed commercials using Flipgrid while others filmed in front of the green screens so that their "pitch" appeared like they are on the hit show Shark Tank.

QR Codes were created so that students, parents, and teachers could scan and watch their presentations. The inventors also spent the morning pitching their ideas to students of every grade level. Great work future inventors!

It is best practice to send a note to the classroom teacher for all dismissals. The teacher will process the note then send it to the main office for processing. Best to always include the following: Teacher’s name, student's first and last name, time of dismissal and bus number. (If you write the end of the day, that is 3:25 with cafe pick up)

If your student will be LATE or ABSENT be sure to call 339-244-5038 by 9:15 and leave a message with reason and symptoms. School starts at 8:40 and students that arrive at or after 8:45 are tardy.

Students are dismissed to 3 separate locations at dismissal

Location RED = All students reporting to the YMCA and parent pick up report the cafe where they either report to the YMCA or get signed out by caregivers.

Location BLUE = All students on buses 2, 5, 10, 11, 13, 15, 44 and 57 report to the cafe. Students line up according to their bus number and wait to be called by staff to board as buses arrive.

Location WHITE = All students on buses 1, 3, 12, 14, 18, 41 and 54 report to the gym. Students line up according to their bus numbers and wait to be called by staff to board as buses arrive.

Have questions about lunch accounts?

Please reach out to our Food Service Director Cindy Lucas-Terra at

You must have a valid CORI on file with PPS in order to volunteer at NPES. CORI’s are valid for 3 years and it takes 2-3 weeks for processing.

Kids go out for recess even when there is snow on the ground…. Be sure they dress warmly. Hats, gloves and coats, snow pants and boots are recommended.

Box Tops for Education

Last week in your child’s backpack, you should have received a handout on box tops. For over 20 years, Box Tops for Education has given families an easy way to earn cash for their school, with products they already buy. As you may or may not know, box tops have gone digital! So, there are two ways that you can help support the school through the box tops program:

1. Bring in your clipped box tops. The old box tops image has a purple folder with Box Tops and a pencil that says education over it. There should a date of expiration as well. Bring these in either in a bag with your child's teacher name or taped to the handout. These are due 10/21 for the fall submission.

2. Scan your receipts. Download the new app and scan your receipts. This is the box top image that says 'no more clipping.' Alternatively, send in your receipts and we will scan them! Just let us know what teacher to credit the box tops to. Scanned receipts can be brought in at any time, but they have to be scanned within 14 days of purchase.
