Park Terrace Elementary
February 23, 2022 Newsletter
Greetings Park Terrace Elementary!
I hope you enjoyed the long weekend and were able to relax and spend time with family and friends. Yesterday’s winter storm was a strong (and chilly!) reminder that winter is not quite over, but the promise of spring is just around the corner. In mid-March our students will have spring break. There are warmer days ahead and so much fun and learning to look forward to!
Yesterday was our 100th day of school, and it was so fun to see so many of our students dressed up as if they were 100 years old. Additionally, our teachers did a wonderful job of making fun projects like hats and necklaces to celebrate this milestone with our students. Check out the Great News section below for some photos of our adorable students!
This week face masks are strongly recommended in preK-12 – not required. The revised Face Mask Decision-Making Guide is in effect. Face masks will be required temporarily on a school-by-school basis if 5 percent or more of students and staff are out with COVID-19 or COVID-like symptoms. See data updated weekly on the COVID-19 hub. Face masks continue to be required on buses following federal requirements.
The Panther Foundation Week of Giving is underway! The Silent Auction featuring more than 300 packages opens later today at 6 p.m. You can also dine to donate at local restaurants and continue to show your Panther Spirit – Thursday (blue out) and Friday (spirt wear). Thanks for supporting our students! I hope to see some of you at the Panther Party on Saturday. Find everything you need to know at SpringLakeParkSchools.org/GiveBack.
Have a great rest of the week, Panthers! Work hard, stay warm and let’s push through the winter and into spring!
Sincerely,
Mona Perkins
Principal

Industry roundtable focuses on the future
Small and large business, non-profit, government and education leaders came together at Spring Lake Park High School last week to discuss the skills graduates need and how school and community can partner to build the future. More than two dozen leaders participated in the industry roundtable conversations, representing a variety of sectors – including retail, hospitality, health care, finance, manufacturing, construction, government and more. Participants provided insight on the skills and mindsets graduates need to succeed in the workforce. Read the full story here.
If you’re interested in becoming a partner by contributing to future opportunities surrounding this work, please contact Eric Van Brocklin, evanbr@district16.org, 763-600-5100.
