Neck Injury
Peyton Manning had suffered from a pinched nerve in his neck because of being tackled so many times over the years. He had two minor surgeries to try and fix it. Then in September 2011 he had a procedure called Spinal Fusion where they cut open the front of his neck. They removed the bad disc from the spinal cord and replaced it with bone graft between two vertebrae. Then metal plates and screws were used to hold the graft and vertebrae together like a bridge. Peyton needed to rest 8-10 weeks after the operation.
