Nineteenth Week of School
This month the students will complete IReady testing and Aspire interim assessments. Please encourage your children to get plenty of sleep and to eat healthy so they can TEST THEIR BEST!
Unfortunatly, on Monday we heard the decison from the Archdiocese of Chicago that our school is closing, at the end of the 2019-2020 school year. This was very tough news for us all to hear as we are all invested in the SJS community. Many of you have been a part of the community for generations and have loved the familiy type atmosphere here. As heartbreaking as this decision was to hear, please know that the teachers and I are invested in delivering a high quality education to your sons and daughters for the remainder of the school year. We will continue the mission of the school and church with integrity and compassion everyday that we are here.
With the scholarship season upon us, although we may not be ready in our hearts, we need to begin looking at other Cathlolic schools in the area as an option for your children to attend. For those that applied, Empower Illinois will send you a link to continue the application process. When filling out the application, they will ask you to choose 3 schools that the scholarship monies would go to. In an effort to help you with making that difficult descision; we have invited the local Catholic schools to a School Fair that we are hosting in the community room on Thursday, January 23, from 6:30-7:30pm. So far the schools attending are Frasatti, Most Blessed Trininty, St. Gilbert, Prince of Peace, and St. Bede. Please come with your list of questions to ask to their principals/marketors/priests. Maria, Mrs. Fawley, myself, and several teachers will be there helping you along the way. Please remember that you are not alone in the decision when searching for another Catholic school. The nice part is that you have many great Catholic school options nearby.
As always, thank you for your continued support.
Peace and joy,
Mrs. Rybarczyk

Introducing E-Learning Days :)
We are excited to introduce to our school this year E-Learning Days for inclement weather/emergency closings. In the past, if a snow day was called, an Emergency Day was added to the end of the school year. School Code Section 10-20.56 created guidelines in the definition of an e-Learning Day, and the Office of Catholic Schools has approved the use of four E-Learning Days in an academic year. However, unforeseen circumstances could still necessitate the use of “Emergency Days” that will be added to the end of the year.
See link below to read the E-Learning Policy.
Teachers in grades K-3 sent home E-Learning folders this week! Please put the folders in a safe place until it is needed on the e-learning day. Return just the completed activities after each snow day. Grades 4-8 have access to google classroom where their teachers will have the assignments posted for the children to complete. Contact your child's teacher for more information.
REMINDER OF MORNING ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL PROCEDURES
Dismissal: Students are dismissed form the gym at 2:20PM. Please park your vehicle in a designated parking space and come into the gym to sign your child out with their teacher.
