This year’s Heritage Day is scheduled for Friday, March 6th. We would like for all students to come dressed in attire that represents their culture to celebrate the diversity we have here at SMS. If you would like to volunteer for this amazing event, click here: https://m.signupgenius.com/#!/showSignUp/10c044fa4a729a1fc1-heritage
We will be screening all performances (students, parents, groups, troops, etc.) Tuesday, February 18th at 4:15 in the girl’s gym. Please come with music, attire, and anything else you need for your performance so we can audition you for the show.
Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month
Every February across the United States, teens and those who support them join together for a national effort to raise awareness to teen dating violence. Dating violence is more common than many people think. One in three teens in the U.S. will experience physical, sexual, or emotional abuse by someone they are in a relationship with before they become adults. By joining together every February, we can spread awareness and stop dating abuse before it starts. Click here for more info: https://www.loveisrespect.org/teendvmonth/
As always, for updates visit our website at: https://www.fortbendisd.com/domain/2953.
Thank you for your continued support of us and our program. We are enjoying a fantastic year with your students!!**
-The SMS Counseling Team
We are currently accepting applications from current 6th and 7th graders for the AVID program, Advancement Via Individual Determination. AVID is a college and career readiness system that is designed to increase school-wide learning and performance. We focus on organization, time management, note taking and learning strategies. Learn about the AVID Program here.
AVID is an elective offered at Sartartia. All students interested must complete an application, which can be accessed here. The application closes on February 28th and we will begin student interviews on March 3rd.

PAWS FOR CAUSE - JAG CASH DRIVE
Support the PTO by donating to our Annual Cash Drive. Our Goal this year is $25,000. This is the only cash drive for the entire year. If every Household donates just $10 we will exceed our goal. Now you can donate online by simply clicking the following link or simply visit our website www.sms-pto.org and click on the Donate button on the main page.
