Social Studies

We began creating a toy company in our classroom this week. We brainstormed the different departments our company would need in order to be successful. Students worked on creating layouts for the different departments.

**We are learning all about the decisions a business needs to make in order to be successful. We will be moving on to our next step of creating a marketing campaign very soon. At this time, we are looking for any parents/grandparents that have experience in that field and would be willing to give a brief talk during the day to our class about the topic of marketing/advertising. It can be as formal or informal as you would like. Please let me know if you are interested. We would love to hear what the experts have to say!

This week we reviewed main idea and details and fact and opinion. Students also learned about a fun and exciting event we will be participating in called Battle of the Books. Students received a book off the list and started reading today! They will read as many books as they can before our battle in May!

We also worked on writing possessive nouns correctly and identified them in our reading. Students also published their expository papers.

In math this week we focused on multiplying numbers in the tens, hundreds, and thousands. We also worked on estimating both sums and products.
