Tuesday, November 8th is an all students holiday and a staff workday. There will be no school.

No Lunch Visitors

There will be no lunch visitors the week of November 7th- November 11th in order to get ready for Thanksgiving Feasts and Veterans Day Program. We appreciate your understanding.

2022 Veterans Day Program and Breakfast

Calling all Military Veterans! Please save the date for a Veterans Day parade, program and breakfast on Friday, November 11th at 8:15 am. Check-in will begin at 8 am. Your student/students may come with you at 8:15 and then go to class after. Please RSVP here: https://forms.gle/kpw6fh9Pzcnek19VA The form will turn off Friday, November 4th at 8pm.

Thanksgiving Feast

Groves Elementary will be hosting Thanksgiving Feasts on Thursday, November 10 and Friday, November 11. See times and dates below:

  • Thursday, November 10th
    • K - 10:00 am to 11:00 am
    • 4th - 11:10 am to 12:10 pm
    • 3rd - 12:20 pm to 1:20 pm
  • Friday, November 11th
    • 1st - 10:35 am to 11:35 am
    • 2nd - 11:45 am to 12:45 pm
    • 5th - 12:55 pm to 1:55 pm

Students are allowed 2 adults guests (non school-aged children do not count toward the guest count and are welcome to attend).

Please pre-register for the guest list here. (Form will be turned off at 12:00 NOON on Tuesday, November 8)

Pay for guest lunches at this link. When paying for guest lunches, select 11/10 even if you are attending on 11/11.

Outside food is welcome!


On 11/10 and 11/11, students who are not having their Thanksgiving Feast will be getting a sack lunch from the cafeteria. The sack lunch will consist of:

  • Wow Butter & Jelly Sandwich
  • Sun Splash Veggie Juice
  • Baby Carrots
  • Applesauce Cup
  • Dried Fruit
  • Cheez-IT Crackers
  • Choice of Milk
  • Ranch

The cafeteria needs an estimate of how many lunches to prepare. Please fill out this link to assist the cafeteria in getting accurate counts.

Progress Reports

Progress reports for students in grades 3 - 5 will be available in the Home Access Center (HAC) on Friday, November 11, 2022 after 3:00 pm. Please login to HAC and print the progress report for your records. If you need assistance accessing your HAC account please call 281-641-5003.

Wall of Honor for Veterans

This Veteran's Day we would like to honor our Groves families who have Veterans by having a Wall of Honor. First, make a copy of the google slide template found here. Then, complete slide 2 and save (See slide 3 for an example). If you have multiple Veterans in your family, please add slides after slide 2. Finally, email Becky Norris at bnorris@humbleisd.net your completed google slide by Thursday, November 3rd. If you have any questions, please contact Becky Norris at bnorris@humbleisd.net.

Veterans Day Color Run

We're excited to announce that we will be partnering with NextOp for this years Veterans Day Color Run on Saturday, November 12th at 8 am. Registration and donations will be accepted til the event date. Registration is at grovespto.com.

NextOp connects veterans and military members to career opportunities. Their goal is to bridge the gap between the military and industries in need of diverse and skilled talent.

All GE family and community members are invited to attend.

Groves Elementary appreciates EVERYONE who came out to shop the book fair and support our library! Thanks to YOU, we can purchase the best books for your students. A huge thank you to all of our amazing parent volunteers. It could never happen without you.



If your student was ill or otherwise unable to attend the book fair, you can still shop our online fair until 10/30. Your eWallet works there too! Visit https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/groveselementaryschool to shop. Those funds will also just roll over to the Spring book fair if unused.

Special Notice About Car Rider Drop Off

Students are not to be dropped off in the staff parking lot or bus lane during morning drop off. Please utilize the unassisted and assisted car drop off lines on the Insperity driveway side of the building

October PE Student of the Month

Caroline Wilckens has been selected as our October PE student of the month!!! Caroline is a 3rd grade student in Ms. Clarke's class. She is a very kind-hearted girl who always does her best and displays a great attitude. Caroline is extremely positive and sets a wonderful example for other students to follow. She is an absolute treasure to have in class. Nice job Caroline!!!

ATTENDANCE

It is important that all student absences be reported to the school in a timely manner. Please use ONE of the following methods to report the absence.


- Call the attendance line at 281-641-5019 or

- Email the attendance specialist at deirdre.hemsing@humbleisd.net or

- Complete the online absence form that can be found here.


If your student has visited a doctor while they were absent then please make sure to send in a signed/stamped doctors note within 48 hours of their return to school.

Groves Theatre

We will begin regular meetings on the following dates for each group:


4th and 5th grades. Mondays from 3:15-4:30 beginning November 14th

(We will meet Wednesday when there is no school on Monday)


2nd and 3rd grades, Tuesdays from 3:15-4:30, beginning December 6th


Kinder and 1st grades, Thursdays from 3:15-4:30, beginning December 8th

Food Delivery for Students

Just a reminder that students are not allowed food deliveries by outside vendors (Door Dash, Uber Eats, etc.) or directly from a restaurant. We welcome parents to drop off lunch in the front atrium. Thank you!

Lunch Schedule

See below for a link to the lunch schedule. This staggered lunch schedule will allow students to have more time to eat their meals without rushing.

Birthday Treats

Please contact your child's teacher to set up dropping off of birthday treats. They can be dropped off at the front office. Please make sure it is a store bought item confirmed with your teacher in case of allergies. Individually wrapped is recommended. No goodie bags, gifts or balloons will be accepted. Ice cream can be purchased from the cafeteria. This must be done in advance and the form can be found on our website.

Credit by Exam

Below please find information regarding the Fall 2022 Credit By Exam for Acceleration registration and testing dates/deadlines. Additional communication will be sent out in January for spring testing registration.

2022-2023 Yearbook

2022-2023 Yearbook - We are so excited to announce that the 2022-2023 Yearbook will be in collaboration with our first ever Groves Elementary Yearbook Club. Students will help design, take pictures, and create layouts. You may order your yearbooks now at balfour.com (search Groves Elementary in 77346) for an early bird price of $30 (ends 2/1/23). We will have a summer delivery to be able to include all parties, spring events and 5th grade of year activities, but we will be selling inserts at the end of year for students to collect autographs, so you don't need to purchase an insert now. 5th grade only dedications available for purchase now, but the design isn't due until next Spring. Order now because we have a limited number of books that will sell out!!
